Dennard Reportedly Needs Surgery
Friday, Nov. 27
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported while Dennard's labrum is intact, the ligaments and capsules around the shoulder have structural damage that needs to be repaired.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that testing on Dennard's shoulder confirmed the team's fears regarding the cornerback's status.
Dennard's Injury Will Impact Bengals' Secondary Depth
Dennard hasn't started a game in his two-year NFL career but does have 20 total tackles, three pass deflections and an interception this season.
He has provided depth for a solid Bengals defense that was allowing just 236.3 yards per game through the air prior to Week 11 but was burned for four touchdowns by Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer through three-plus quarters on Sunday.
The former Michigan State Spartans star backs up starter Dre Kirkpatrick. Josh Shaw, who has seen limited action in nine games this year, could take Dennard's spot in the cornerback rotation while he recovers.
