Timothy RappNov 22, 2015

For the third time in four years, Rory McIlroy won the Race to Dubai, clinching the title with his win at the DP World Tour Championship, per PA Sport.

The win ensured that McIlroy would take the $1.25 million top prize from the $5 million prize pool, along with a $625,000 bonus prize for playing in at least three of four of the Turkish Airlines Open, The WGC-HSBC Champions, The BMW Masters and the DP World Tour Championship.

McIlroy shot a 66 on Sunday to finish 21 under par, just one shot ahead of Andy Sullivan for the tournament and ahead of Danny Willett for the Race to Dubai.

"I had to dig very deep. Andy is some player. He's got all the shots," McIlroy told RTE Sport. "I set my goals to win the Race to Dubai and to do that is fantastic. I'me really going to enjoy a few weeks off and get ready for next season. I feel like my game is back to the level I can be at."

While McIlroy didn't steal headlines like Jordan Spieth or Jason Day this season, he still finished with four wins and had an excellent year. A healthy McIlroy in 2016 should be a danger in every major and will be expected to compete with players like Spieth and Day for the title of golf's top player.
