Manchester United's Chris Smalling Admits 'Mike' Nickname Is Getting Annoying

Manchester United defender Mike Smalling—sorry, Chris—admits his new nickname is starting to get a little annoying.

The defender has been dubbed "Mike" after manager Louis Van Gaal got the centre-back's name wrong during a press conference at the start of November, per the Daily Mail.

And, unfortunately for the England international, it appears to have stuck. He told BT Sport, per Manchester Evening News:

Even when we’re going to games and getting off the coach, it’s all ‘Mike, Mike, Mike’, and even though it can get annoying, it’s one of those which is just going to stick with me and I’ve got to roll with it.

It's not Mike in the dressing room but I think every fan knows me as Mike now.

There's little doubt this nickname will stick around for a while yet. Best get used to it, Chris.
