Greene Suspended 6 Games for Conduct Detrimental to the Team

Friday, Nov. 20

According to Rustin Dodd of the Kansas City Star, Jayhawks head coach Bill Self announced that Greene was suspended for unspecified conduct detrimental to the team, which means he will not take part in the Maui Invitational—which starts Monday.

Greene is on pace for his best collegiate season through just two games as he is averaging 12 points in 11.5 minutes per contest.

The Juliette, Georgia, native is fourth on the team in scoring, and he played a key role as one of Kansas' top reserves in 2014-15.

While Greene is certainly talented, he is no stranger to discipline as he was suspended for last season's road game against Oklahoma for what Self called "being irresponsible," per KUSports.com.

Greene was also suspended for a game due to "a pattern of irresponsible behavior" in 2014, according to Dodd.

Although Greene figures to be an important part of a Kansas team that has a chance to make a deep run in 2015-16, it is fair to question if he is unwilling to learn from his mistakes.

His actions could cost the Jayhawks in the coming games, but they will also give reserve guards such as Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk and Lagerald Vick a chance to prove they are deserving of more playing time even after Greene returns.
