Arsenal Transfer News: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Plan, Latest Gunners Rumours

Rory MarsdenNov 20, 2015

Arsenal could reportedly need the help of Premier League rivals Liverpool if they want to seal the signing of Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with the Gabon international and have been quoted a price of £42 million to sign him, per German outlet SportBild (via Metro's Sean Kearns).

However, Aubameyang's transfer fee is not the only obstacle for Arsenal, as the 26-year-old will reportedly not leave Dortmund unless Marco Reus does after the pair made a pact on their futures, per SportBild (h/t Metro's George Bellshaw).

This is where Liverpool come in, as Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has been heavily linked with Reus' signing, per Spanish outlet Fichajes (via Liam Corless of the Daily Mirror).

If the two English clubs can work together, they may be able to both pull off major signings by bringing Aubameyang and Reus to the Premier League at the same time, with the duo potentially open to moving together to the same division.

Aubameyang would be a fantastic signing for the north London outfit. He has been on fire this season, netting 14 goals in 12 Bundesliga matches, per WhoScored.com.

While Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud have been excellent up front so far this term, Aubameyang would add greater quality and depth to the Gunners' attacking line.

Both Walcott and Giroud have historically lacked consistency, and the addition of Aubameyang would offer manager Arsene Wenger more variety in the striker role. It would also give him the ability to rotate his frontmen to avoid fatigue.

A terrific link-up player and an instinctive finisher, Aubameyang would add a new dimension to the Gunners attack.

All of his career Bundesliga goals can be seen below, with an array of strikes to hugely excite Arsenal fans:

Dortmund's quoted price is just shy of the record £42.4 million Arsenal splurged on Mesut Ozil in 2013.

A much cheaper option could perhaps be Celta Vigo's Nolito, with Wenger reportedly open to meeting the Spaniard's £12.6 million release clause in January, per Spanish outlet AS (via the Daily Telegraph).

However, Aubameyang is three years Nolito's junior, and his sheer weight of goals indicate that he would be the better long-term buy, despite being significantly more expensive.

They may need some help from Liverpool, but the Gunners should do everything possible to snap up Aubameyang as he could turn them into Premier League title favourites and Champions League contenders.
