Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Roman Reigns Turns Heel
The best possible option for Survivor Series this year would be Roman Reigns turning heel and joining The Authority en route to beating Dean Ambrose in the finals of the world championship tournament.
Just like Survivor Series Deadly Games 1998, Reigns can align himself with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon and head into WrestleMania season as the new hand-chosen face of the heel authority stable.
With many members of the WWE Universe disliking Reigns anyway, turning him heel would make him the top bad guy in the business. The injury to Rollins may force WWE to give Reigns the character change he desperately needs.
Not only would it give Reigns the edge needed to get over as a top star in the business, but it would also set the stage for Rollins to come back as a top face and battle against Reigns and The Authority.
Kevin Owens Is New Top Heel
If WWE is dead set on leaving Reigns as the top face in training, then the company should see the solid gold it has with Owens and ride him all the way to the top of the card.
As arguably the best talker in the company right now and a supremely talented in-ring worker, Owens has proved to even the most stubborn doubters that he belongs in the world championship conversation.
Owens deserves his chance to be the top heel in the company.
Part of what makes a heel champion effective is getting the fans to want to see him lose the title, and Owens has brought legitimacy back to the Intercontinental Championship in the short time he has held the belt.
With ties to Triple H, Owens would be a perfect fit as The Authority’s new champion, and he would be the kind of titleholder fans could despise. A lengthy run with the championship would help make the face who takes it from him an even bigger star.
Sheamus Cashes In Briefcase
WWE has shown commitment to Reigns as the future face of the brand, but if the shot callers do not feel it is the right time for him to hold the title for a long period of time, Sheamus cashing in on Reigns after he wins the title would be an unforgettable moment.
Reigns winning the title would be a great moment for the fans who support him, but even the biggest haters would feel some sympathy for him if Sheamus takes the title away immediately like he was Daniel Bryan.
The reason this works is the fact that the fans dislike Sheamus even more than Reigns, and that would result in sympathy for the likely tournament winner. The company has to let the fans like Reigns organically, and watching him pay his dues in this fashion will make it easier to handle when he holds the title as the top face.
