WWE SmackDown Results: Winners, Grades, Reaction and Highlights from November 19

The Doctor Chris MuellerNov 19, 2015

Every week on Bleacher Report, I take an in-depth look at WWE SmackDown to recap the action, offer analysis and grade the matches, segments and anything else that takes place on the show, as well as make a few predictions for future events.

Being only a few days away from Survivor Series, it was no surprise that just about every segment from this week's show revolved around one of the feuds that will make up Sunday's card.

Unfortunately, WWE's effort to pack the show full of matches led to several disappointments. Most of them were as short as what we used to see from the Divas, and that is never a good thing.

However, a few humorous moments helped keep things interesting. The Miz was one of the most entertaining parts of the show, and he wasn't even involved in a real storyline.

Let's take a look at everything that happened on this week's SmackDown.

MizTV

1 of 9

SmackDown opened with The Miz hosting another episode of MizTV. Before he could bring anyone out, Kevin Owens interrupted him and said this was now The Kevin Owens Show.

Then Alberto Del Rio and Zeb Colter came out to talk about their quest to form a new country and win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Colter also accused Owens of being an illegal immigrant, but it was more of a throwaway comment than anything else.

Owens and Del Rio almost got into a scuffle, but Dean Ambrose's music cut them off. To make things complete, Roman Reigns showed up to side with his buddy.

R-Truth joined the party and said he was going to win the title, but The Miz reminded him that he wasn't even in the tournament. His ridiculousness added a little humor to the segment.

Ambrose ended up punching The Miz so hard you could hear the impact clearly. Then everyone else left without anyone getting into a fight.

The segment came off better than on TV than it sounds from this description. It wasn't amazing, but it had some entertaining moments.

Grade: B

Notes and Highlights

  • The Miz tried to get everyone to say "MizTV," but the crowd wasn't willing to indulge him.
  • Owens is clearly slimming down a little. His arms and stomach both look like they have lost some mass since he was called up from NXT.
  • I love how The Miz got mad that Ambrose stopped Del Rio and Owens from fighting because it would affect ratings. WWE needs to find something better for The Miz to do. He is funny when he wants to be, and he's actually a good wrestler, too.
  • Was anyone else hoping this would turn into a Triple Threat tag match with Awesome Truth reuniting?

The Miz vs. Cesaro

2 of 9

After the break, The Miz got upset and asked for a match. Cesaro was more than happy to answer the call. The Miz didn't even take off his jacket before going after The Swiss Superman.

Cesaro ended up winning after hitting a back elbow and then locking The Miz in a cross face. It was a short match that only served to make one person look good and the other look like a joke.

As Cesaro was heading up the ramp, Stardust and The Ascension came out, but they walked past him without incident.

This match is hard to grade. It was too short to be anything special, but the way Cesaro applied the submission was truly impressive.

It also has to be noted that Cesaro had a funny moment when he mocked Stardust by doing his cartwheel and signature hand gesture.

Grade: C

The Dudley Boyz and Neville vs. Cosmic Wasteland/Astral Alliance

3 of 9

It looks like Stardust and The Ascension are still a group, which is a little surprising since they never seem to do anything together other than randomly appear in the crowd.

Neville took a lot of punishment from the heels before he managed to tag in Bubba Ray. As with every six-man tag match, all hell broke loose toward the end.

The good guys picked up a win with the Dudley Death Drop. It wasn't a great match, but it had it's moments. The one thing that was accomplished here was reminding all of us how poorly Stardust is being used right now.

Having him lead a stable is fine, but it's only going to matter if they appear regularly and feud with someone important.

Grade: C+

Notes and Highlights

  • Is Stardust's group called The Cosmic Wasteland or Astral Alliance? The announcers have used both names for the trio.
  • Bubba Ray talking trash to the referee will never get old.
  • Viktor came close to botching a side slam from Bubba, but they recovered.

Tyler Breeze vs. Zack Ryder

4 of 9

Zack Ryder made a rare televised appearance for a match against Tyler Breeze. Prince Pretty gave a promo before the match about how Ryder and Dolph Ziggler are both losers, which brought The Show Off out to watch from ringside in Breeze's VIP section.

The distraction allowed Ryder to get in some early offense, but Breeze quickly turned things around and showed his more aggressive side.

Breeze debuted a new finisher to get the win. It appears as if he has adopted Christian's old Killswitch move, but because of his gimmick, Breeze will probably call it the Unprettier like Captain Charisma used to.

This was another really short match, but it ended with Ziggler superkicking Breeze's head off, so it wasn't a total loss.

Grade: C

Notes and Highlights

  • Ryder and Ziggler could be a great tag team. They had hilarious chemistry when they would appear on The JBL and Cole Show.
  • Summer Rae's voice is so annoying that it actually makes her a better heel valet. If she gets under your skin, she is doing her job.

Bray Wyatt Brings the Weird

5 of 9

The Wyatt Family came out for a promo segment with The Undertaker's druids all wearing the same sheep masks they had on during Raw.

It appears as if Braun Strowman was selected to be Wyatt's partner for Survivor Series, which makes total sense. He is still in the midst of his debut push, and if the Wyatts beat Kane and Taker, it will give the big man a huge boost.

After a few minutes, The Undertaker's music began to play and he appeared on the big screen with Kane to taunt Wyatt and his clan. They had a burning sheep mask and set off Kane's corner pyro, which seemed to knock out the druids for some reason.

Whether you liked this segment depends on what kind of wrestling fan you are. If you like realism, you probably didn't care for it, but if you are a fan of wrestling being a circus, then this likely put a smile on your face.

Grade: B+

Notes and Highlights

  • The druids were a lot taller than the ones we saw on Raw. It was like watching Kane and Taker beat up a bunch of kids because they were all so short.
  • Wyatt is officially the only person who can look intimidating in purple pants. The Phantom is jealous.
  • Remember The Phantom with Billy Zane? It was one of those movies that was so bad it was good.
  • It's great that we have gotten to a place where nobody brings up Duck Dynasty when talking about The Wyatt Family.

Charlotte vs. Brie Bella

6 of 9

Charlotte came out looking for blood after the hurtful comments Paige made about her late brother on Raw, and Brie Bella was the sacrificial lamb.

This match lasted longer than Cesaro vs. The Miz and Ryder vs. Breeze, but not by much. Charlotte picked up a submission win to give her a little momentum heading into Survivor Series.

While neither woman had enough time to do anything memorable, Charlotte's spear is always fun to watch.

Grade: C-

Notes and Highlights

  • Alicia Fox was at ringside, but Becky Lynch was nowhere to be found. WWE might be trying to put some distance between the former PCB teammates so they can have a feud at some point.
  • Charlotte needs to work on her chops. They are nowhere near as good as her father's.
  • Paige gave an interview with Renee Young after the match. All she said was that she would win the Divas title. It felt unnecessary and wedged in at the last second.

Big E vs. Kalisto

7 of 9

The New Day came out and gave a quick promo before The Lucha Dragons made their way to the ring. Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston and Big E are almost always entertaining, but this promo was boring for some reason.

Kalisto got in some of his signature offense early, but he was distracted by Woods and Kingston taking out Sin Cara and Big E was able to finish him off with a running splash.

The New Day continued to attack Kalisto after the match was over, but Ryback ran down to make the save. He cleared the ring and celebrated with The Lucha Dragons, but nothing was accomplished.

This was the fourth match of the night that was short and pointless. WWE can be forgiven for trying to get in as much action as possible before a PPV, but the matches need to be good for anyone to care.

Grade: D

Notes and Highlights

  • It looks like Kalisto's shocking win over Ryback last week didn't do anything to affect their friendship.
  • It also appears any hopes of a singles push for Kalisto are gone.
  • WWE has plenty of tag teams right now. So why don't The New Day have clear contenders for the Tag Team Championships?
  • WWE hadn't uploaded this match by the time this article was published, so instead you can watch a bunch of people try to sing The Undertaker's theme song.

Kevin Owens and Alberto Del Rio vs. Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns

8 of 9

After what happened in the opening segment, it was inevitable these four men would end up in a tag team match. The only thing missing was Teddy Long to make it official.

The thing that was a little surprising was that nobody won. All four men ended up brawling outside of the ring, which led to a count-out.

Ambrose and Reigns got the upper hand and sent the crowd home happy, which only seems to confirm it will be the two of them in the main event of Survivor Series.

It was a decent match, but compared to the rest of the show it was a five-star instant classic because they actually had time to work.

Grade: B

Notes and Highlights

  • Owens and Del Rio should have had more issues during the match after they almost got into a fight at the top of the show.
  • Was anyone else hoping Ambrose or Reigns would turn heel right at the end of the match?
  • Colter looked so bored sitting in the aisle.

Final Thoughts and Predictions

9 of 9

WWE usually loads up on video packages during the last episode of SmackDown before a pay-per-view, but that wasn't the case this time.

Instead of having a few good matches, management opted to pack the show full of short bouts that did little to advance any storylines.

A few people put on good performances, but overall this was a show you could skip and not feel bad about it.

With Survivor Series being right around the corner, all of this week's predictions will be about the outcomes of the matches on the card.

Predictions

  • Tyler Breeze will defeat Dolph Ziggler.
  • The Wyatt Family will defeat The Brothers of Destruction.
  • Charlotte will defeat Paige to retain the Divas title.
  • Roman Reigns will defeat Alberto Del Rio.
  • Dean Ambrose will defeat Kevin Owens.
  • Ambrose will win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
  • Either Reigns or Ambrose will turn heel at Survivor Series.
  • The traditional elimination match will be won by whatever team is made up of babyfaces.

What did you think of this week's SmackDown, and what are you predictions for Survivor Series?
