The Ultimate Fighter Latin America 2 Finale: Who's on the Hot Seat?

Scott HarrisNov 18, 2015

It's a good thing there's nothing in the MMA world competing for attention with the finale show of The Ultimate Fighter Latin America 2.

With our collective attention thankfully unburdened by distractions away from the cage, we can train our undivided focus on the many tantalizing matchups available to us—for free, I might add—this Saturday as part of the big finale.

That's the good part. But into each fight card some rain must fall. It's no different in Monterrey, Mexico, where this TUF finale show goes down. Unfortunately some of these competitors may be fighting for their UFC lives. Here are the fighters on, what we like to call, the hot seat.

Ha, just kidding. You caught me! Just wanted to make sure you were paying attention. Plus, you know, gotta stay topical. So, moving on.

Scott Jorgensen

If you went back in time three years and somehow determined that it was important to find me and tell me that Jorgensen had dropped five of six bouts, first I would have said "who wins the 2013 World Series," and second, I would have said "I don't believe you."

But here we are. Shuttling between flyweight and bantamweight (he's at 135 for this contest), Jorgensen is looking more careworn than the average 33-year-old. He and his rugged wrestling-based game are slightly favored against Alejandro Perez, a winner from TUF Latin America's first season. Jorgensen is popular, but his value will be tested if he can't prove oddsmakers right.

Every Single TUF Latin America 2 Competitor on the Card

That goes for you, Cesar Arzamendia, Marco Polo Reyes, Vernon Ramos, Alvaro Herrera, Enrique Barzola, Horacio Gutierrez, Erick Montano and Enrique Martin. (The final four listed there are the ones competing for the lightweight and welterweight, respectively, season championships.)

You have to imagine that any of the losers in these fights would only get another shot under extenuating circumstances. The UFC's overall roster is bloated and, after the finale, all but two of these guys will have lost at least once during the course of the season. You have to be selective. That's just the way it is, baby.
