Orioles Reportedly Secure O'Day
Sunday, Dec. 6
Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal and CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reported O'Day landed a four-year contract worth $31 million, pending a physical. Rosenthal reported on Nov. 18 that O'Day was seeking a contract for four years that would pay him between $28 million and $36 million overall.
Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun reported on Dec. 1 that the Orioles made a competitive offer to O'Day. Connolly added, per a source, that O'Day could decide before Monday's winter meetings begin.
Nationals Emerge As Front-Runners for O'Day
Saturday, Dec. 5
Connolly reported O'Day could soon sign with the Nationals, although he has yet to rule out a return to Baltimore.
On Dec. 4, Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com reported O'Day "has yet to rule out Nationals, Orioles and Braves. Washington and Baltimore are pushing the hardest to get it done."
O'Day Among Top Bullpen Options
O'Day, 33, finished 6-2 with a 1.52 ERA, a 0.93 WHIP, 82 strikeouts, six saves and 18 holds in 65.1 innings pitched. He's the top option in a weak free-agency pool for relievers and has been consistently excellent in his four seasons with the Orioles.
