Nike Doernbecher Freestyle Collection 2015 Release Date, Pics and Retail Price
Nike and Doernbecher Children's Hospital have once again teamed up to create their annual Freestyle Collection from the minds of kids. The unique designs span every avenue of creativity from bold and colorful to sleek and smooth.
The company's official site notes that more than $11 million has been raised over the past 12 years to "help expand the hospital's pioneering research, support clinical care, purchase state-of-the-art equipment, recruit new experts and subsidize the cost of care for families in need."
This year's collection includes six special designs. Here are the key release details, per Nike:
| Saturday, Nov. 21 at 10 a.m. ET | Nike Free TR5, Air Jordan 13 Retro, LeBron XIII, Nike Air Max 90, Nike Air Max 95, Nike Zoom Stefan Janoski | $85 - $225 |
Along with the shoes, there's also the option to buy other pieces of clothing to make an outfit.
Every year the Doernbecher release features some tremendous options, and 2015 is no different. There's a design to match every taste, and the fact that it benefits a great cause is simply a bonus.
Villa provided a snapshot of all six pieces of the collection:
That really shows how the shoes cover a wide spectrum of styles and colors.
The process goes far beyond taking popular shoes and changing the color scheme, though. Each design has personal elements, including pictures, names and initials to provide a deeper connection. Even the Batman logo makes an appearance.
SneakerNews.com showcased some of those individual aspects from the designers:
Those are the things that make these shoes stand out.
Ultimately, that's what makes the Doernbecher Freestyle Collection exceptional. The release goes deeper than most of the others during the year, and that goes a long way when there are so many choices available on the market, especially during the holiday season.
Nike NYC passed along photos of some of the creators with their shoes:
All told, these shoes will attract interest from numerous directions. Whether it's a collector, somebody looking for unique footwear or a person looking for a way to help the cause, the Doernbecher Freestyle Collection fits the bill.
It's easy to see why it's become so popular over the years.
