Chelsea Transfer News: Robin van Persie Rumours Emerge, Stefano Sensi Latest

Rory MarsdenNov 18, 2015

Chelsea are reportedly eyeing a shock move to sign former Arsenal and Manchester United striker Robin van Persie from Turkish club Fenerbahce.

According to Turkish outlet Fotomac (via Alex Harris in the Daily Star), the Blues are looking to ship out disappointing Monaco loanee Radamel Falcao in the new year and replace him with the 32-year-old Van Persie.

Jose Mourinho's Chelsea side have made a shocking start to the 2015-16 Premier League campaign and currently sit 16th after losing seven of their 12 matches.

One of a number of major problems has been the poor form of star striker Diego Costa, and the west London club have already been linked with new-year moves for Gonzalo Higuain and Antoine Griezmann, per Bleacher Report's Dean Jones:

Van Persie has now emerged as a potential target after cutting an unhappy figure at Fenerbahce since moving to Istanbul from Old Trafford in the summer.

Fener recently issued a statement ruling out any possibility of Van Persie being sold, per the Express' Charlie Phillippe.

However, that has not stopped rumours from circulating about his potential departure to Barcelona and PSV Eindhoven, among others, per Harris.

A move to Chelsea for the Dutchman would be highly controversial given his previous links to the Gunners and United.

His switch to Manchester was not well received by Gunners fans back in 2012, and he would likely spark further outrage among the Emirates (and United) faithful if he moved to Stamford Bridge.

Van Persie could be a decent addition at Chelsea, though, as he is a proven goalscorer in the Premier League and could offer vital game-winning experience.

Meanwhile, Blues target Stefano Sensi has hinted he may consider a move away from Serie B club Cesena in January.

The 20-year-old playmaker was reportedly recently scouted by Chelsea, per Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb (via Tom Olver of Metro).

And David Amoyal, a translator for Gianluca Di Marzio, has now relayed Sensi's latest comments which indicate he could be open to a move as he looks to follow in the footsteps of Paris Saint-Germain's Marco Verratti:

A hugely talented midfielder, Italian Sensi could be a tremendous addition at Chelsea in the long term, and could provide competition and cover for struggling central duo Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic.
