WWE SmackDown Spoilers: Complete Results and Analysis for November 19

Erik BeastonNov 17, 2015

With five days until they battle for the right to hoist the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and call it their own, Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, Alberto Del Rio and Kevin Owens took center stage during Tuesday night's SmackDown tapings in Knoxville, Tennessee.

They kicked off the broadcast with an appearance on Miz TV, but as is almost always the case when Superstars take to the ring for the company's resident talk show, things quickly devolved, and a tag team match main event was announced.

They were not the only competitors at the heart of Tuesday night's tapings, though.

The issues between Dolph Ziggler and Tyler Breeze intensified, Ryback found himself at odds with The New Day for the second consecutive night, and The Undertaker and Kane sent one last message to The Wyatt Family ahead of this Sunday's huge tag team extravaganza.

What exactly went down inside Thompson-Boling Arena?

The fans in Knoxville already know, and thanks to our friends at Wrestling Inc, you can, too.

Results

  • Reigns, Ambrose, Del Rio and Owens joined The Miz to kick off the show on Miz TV. They exchanged words, and the loony R-Truth even made his presence felt, completely unaware that he was not actually involved in the tournament. The action broke down, and the babyfaces stood tall to end the segment, much to the dismay of the host.
  • The Miz complained after the break about what just happened, going as far as to state his match should be called off.
  • Cesaro defeated The Miz in seconds, using the crossface for a submission win. After the match, a confrontation between Cesaro and The Cosmic Wasteland was teased, but nothing came of it.
  • Neville and The Dudley Boyz defeated Stardust and The Ascension.
  • Tyler Breeze and Summer Rae cut a promo on Dolph Ziggler.
  • Breeze defeated Zack Ryder. After the match, Ziggler attacked, delivering a superkick.
  • The Undertaker's druids once again wore sheep masks as they made their way to the ring with The Wyatt Family. Bray Wyatt cut a promo until Undertaker and Kane interrupted on the big screen, cutting a promo on their Survivor Series opponents.
  • Divas champion Charlotte defeated Brie Bella in a nontitle match.
  • Big E defeated Kalisto. The New Day beat down The Lucha Dragons until Ryback made the save.
  • Ambrose and Reigns defeated Del Rio and Owens via disqualification. The babyfaces fought back and stood tall to end the broadcast.

Analysis

The results of Thursday's show may be predictable, but that does not necessarily make them bad.

The focus was on the most important matches on the Survivor Series card as well as the planting of the seeds for another bout, this one between Dolph Ziggler and Tyler Breeze. Emphasis on Reigns, Ambrose, Owens and Del Rio is exactly what SmackDown needed, especially as WWE continues to hype its Survivor Series pay-per-view.

The appearances by The Wyatt Family, Undertaker and Kane also put over the importance of this weekend's event.

More importantly, though, it gave SmackDown a sense of meaning for the second week in a row.

On paper, the show is one dedicated to tying up loose ends that may exist ahead of Survivor Series. At a time when WWE Creative fights scrutiny for its lackluster television product of late, it has managed to make the B-level show into an acclaimed broadcast thanks to the simplicity of it.

The one interesting aspect of the broadcast is one that could have long-reaching effects on WWE programming.

After being defeated by Kalisto a week ago on SmackDown, Ryback came to the aid of The Lucha Dragons, suggesting he may remain in the mix with the man who provided him with his most obvious upset loss. Whether that means he turns heel and feuds with the masked luchador or becomes his friend/mentor of sorts remains to be seen, but their blossoming relationship is certainly one element of WWE television worth paying attention to.
