Fantasy Football Rankings: Week 11 Big Board
Week 11 means we’ve reached the final set of byes. That’s the good news. The bad news is at a crucial point in the season, you won’t be able to use the New Orleans Saints, the New York Giants, the Pittsburgh Steelers or Cleveland Browns tight end Gary Barnidge. Depth is key.
The quarterback position takes the biggest hit without Drew Brees, Eli Manning and Ben Roethlisberger. That means a returning Tony Romo jumps right back into the QB1 conversation with the Dallas Cowboys facing a beatable Miami Dolphins defense.
Without Mark Ingram and DeAngelo Williams, you lose two players out of the RB1 tier at a time when you likely need them the most. Luckily, there are plenty of good matchups out there for others to step up. Kansas City Chiefs running back Charcandrick West draws the San Diego Chargers, and New England Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount is primed for a busy game against the Buffalo Bills.
The wide receiver position takes a big hit at the top without Antonio Brown and Odell Beckham Jr. in addition to Martavis Bryant and Brandin Cooks. Romo’s return makes Dez Bryant one of the best plays at wide receiver this week. Plus, Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans should continue his hot streak with a favorable matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.
If you picked up Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola, play him with confidence, as he has a decent matchup with the Bills and has already proved he can step into Julian Edelman’s role. Washington Redskins running back Matt Jones, the other top waiver-wire addition, may not have as much success on the road against the undefeated Carolina Panthers.
Survive this last week of byes, and you can gear up for the fantasy playoffs or make that last push to lock up your spot.
As always, these rankings will be updated throughout the week and right after inactives come down for the early-afternoon games Sunday.

Quarterbacks: Welcome Back
2 of 7
Better than usual
- Derek Carr, Oak: When Carr throws for 302 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions against the Minnesota Vikings and it’s considered somewhat disappointing, you know he’s rolling. He should be considered one of the best fantasy QBs this week against the Detroit Lions. Detroit’s given up the second-most fantasy points to QBs in the last four weeks.
Worse than usual
- Philip Rivers, SD: The San Diego Chargers have a patched-together offensive line and have battled through multiple injuries in their receiving corps, and Rivers gets to face a Kansas City defense that’s racked up 11 sacks in the last two games. It’s fair to be concerned about him.
Avoid
- Jay Cutler, Chi: There’s no doubt Cutler has played better than expected this season, but that doesn’t mean you have to play him against the Denver Broncos in Week 11. Over the last four weeks, the Broncos have allowed the 10th-fewest fantasy points and just 533 yards to QBs.
Sleepers
- Marcus Mariota, Ten: The Tennessee Titans head into a short week knowing they’ll be shorthanded at WR with injuries to Justin Hunter (ankle) and Kendall Wright (knee), but Mariota still has TE Delanie Walker and WR Dorial Green-Beckham in a favorable matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. In the last four weeks, the Jaguars have yielded the 12th-most fantasy points to quarterbacks.

Running Backs: Feed the Man
3 of 7
Better than usual
- Jonathan Stewart, Car: In each of his last five games, Stewart has at least 20 carries. He also has at least 80 rushing yards in three games and four touchdowns. He’s been one of the most reliable players on one of the best teams and now gets to face a Washington defense that’s allowed the third-most fantasy points to running backs over the last four weeks.
- Darren McFadden, Dal: Following a disappointing performance in Week 10 in a loss to the Buccaneers, McFadden has a chance to prove he’s not running out of gas when he takes on the Dolphins this weekend. No team has allowed more fantasy points to running backs in their last four games.
- Other: Latavius Murray, Oak; LeGarrette Blount, NE; Charcandrick West, KC
Worse than usual
- James Starks, GB: With or without Eddie Lacy, Starks is tough to feel great about this weekend in a huge divisional matchup with the Vikings. They’ve held running backs to 323 rushing yards and just one touchdown in the last four weeks. He’s struggled to get much going on the ground, even as the lead back in Green Bay over the last few weeks.
Avoid
- Melvin Gordon, SD: The Chargers keep trying to make something out of Gordon, and it just isn’t happening, so don’t bother using him against the Chiefs in Week 11. They’ve held running backs to just 320 total yards in the last four weeks.
Sleepers
- Jay Ajayi, Mia: Last week, Ajayi led the Dolphins with 48 rushing yards on six attempts, so while Lamar Miller is still leading the way, Ajayi is making a case for a bigger role. If he gets more chances this week, he’ll have a good opportunity to produce against a Cowboys defense that’s allowed 471 rushing yards and the 11th-most fantasy points to running backs in the last month.

Wide Receivers: Buc Up
4 of 7
Better than usual
- Danny Amendola, NE: If there’s one actual wide receiver handcuff, it’s Amendola for Julian Edelman, as we saw last week when Edelman went down with a foot injury. Amendola can easily step into this role and should be a strong play against Buffalo, an average defense against wide receivers.
Worse than usual
- Alshon Jeffery, Chi: Jeffery battled his way through a groin injury last week and wound up with just three receptions for 23 yards. It could be another rough go of it in Week 11 with the Bears hosting a Broncos defense that’s allowed the second-fewest fantasy points to wide receivers in the last four weeks.
Avoid
- Kamar Aiken, Bal: Aiken might be the top option in the Baltimore Ravens passing attack, but expectations should be lowered significantly this week when the St. Louis Rams come to Baltimore. No team has been tougher against fantasy wide receivers than the Rams have over the last month.
Sleepers
- Dorial Green-Beckham, Ten: We know the Titans lost wide receiver Justin Hunter to an ankle injury and likely won’t have Kendall Wright (knee) once again, so it’ll be up to Green-Beckham to pick up the slack. His opportunity is a good one, as the Jaguars have given up the ninth-most fantasy points to wide receivers in the last four weeks.

Tight Ends: Matchups Matter
5 of 7
Better than usual
- Travis Kelce, KC: It’s been tough to get excited about Kelce this season, as the Chiefs refuse to use him as much as they should, but the hope for this week is that they take advantage of the matchup. In the last four weeks, the Chargers have surrendered the fifth-most fantasy points to tight ends.
Worse than usual
- Martellus Bennett, Chi: Last week, Bennett took a back seat to teammate Zach Miller against the Rams. This week, we have to worry about him facing a top-seven defense against fantasy tight ends. Expectations must be lowered.
Avoid
- Austin Seferian-Jenkins, TB: Seferian-Jenkins has been out since Week 2 with a shoulder injury, so at this point, you can’t play him with confidence even if he does come back this week against the Eagles, as they are a top-four defense against tight ends in the last month.
Sleepers
- Jacob Tamme, Atl: Tamme has scored double-digit fantasy points in PPR formats during his last two games and has a great chance to keep up his fantasy production when he faces his old team, the Indianapolis Colts, in Week 11. No team has yielded more fantasy points to tight ends in the last four weeks.

Defense/Special Teams: No Gabbert, Gabbert
6 of 7
Best options based on matchups
- Carolina Panthers (vs. Was): In the last four weeks, the Panthers have been a top-six fantasy defense with 13 sacks and six interceptions. Their strong defense should give Washington quarterback Kirk Cousins plenty of trouble, and that will lead to mistakes and turnovers the Panthers will capitalize on in Week 11.
- Seattle Seahawks (vs. SF): San Francisco 49ers quarterback Blaine Gabbert may have survived his first test in Week 9, but trouble is brewing for him in Seattle this weekend. The 49ers have allowed nine sacks in their last three games.
- New England Patriots (vs. Buf): The Patriots are the ninth-best fantasy defense over the last four weeks thanks to 11 sacks, three interceptions and three fumble recoveries. Meanwhile, the Bills have surrendered the third-most fantasy points, including 11 sacks, to opposing defenses over the same span.
- Tennessee Titans (at Jac): Your waiver-wire pickup of the week is the Titans taking on the Jaguars. The Jags have given up the sixth-most fantasy points to opposing defenses in the last four weeks due to 11 sacks and four interceptions. If you’re playing the matchups and/or streaming defenses, the Titans should be attractive in Week 11.

Kickers: Golden Graham

Best options widely available on the waiver wire
- Cairo Santos, KC: Santos has racked up nine field goals and 10 extra points over the last four weeks and should have another busy outing when the Chiefs take on the Chargers in Week 11. Look for the Chiefs to control this one with their pass rush and a heavy dose of running back Charcandrick West, which should afford Santos plenty of scoring chances.
