Conflicting Reports Surround Colts' Concerns Over Luck
Wednesday, March 2
Bleacher Report's Jason Cole reported the Colts are concerned about long-term damage to Luck's shoulder:
Stephen Holder of the Indianapolis Star reported the Colts are not concerned about Luck moving forward:
"Regarding buzz that Andrew Luck has potential long-term issues with his throwing shoulder (per Bleacher Report), all I can say is that I have heard nothing of the sort from anyone in the organization. A team source I just checked with was dismissive about the idea.
Further, if you remember, the shoulder injury was the first one suffered by Luck last season (Weeks 3-4). He struggled once he returned, but by the Denver game (where he suffered the kidney injury), he was throwing darts, the best passes he'd thrown all season.
As I wrote in December, I maintain Luck's rib injuries were worse than the Colts let on. And you already know about the lacerated kidney, which heals with time. Those injuries, to my knowledge, were the primary concerns about Luck. Both are presumably healed now.
Beyond that, I believe Luck will be fine based on everything that I know.

Luck's 2015 Season Derailed by Injuries
In his fourth NFL season, Luck's 2015 campaign was completely undone by injuries. He missed two games early in the season with a shoulder injury and then sat out seven more after suffering a lacerated spleen in Week 9's win over the Denver Broncos. When in the lineup, Luck was surprisingly inconsistent, throwing for 1,881 yards and 15 touchdowns against 12 picks.
"It's my problem, and it is hurting the team," he said of his interception issues, per Kevin Bowen of Colts.com.
The Colts don't have another long-term solution at quarterback on the roster. Matt Hasselbeck took over duties for Luck last season, but he reportedly won't return. Josh Freeman appears to be the leader as Luck's backup, but he isn't an option that excites anyone.
A lingering shoulder injury for Luck could spell bad news for the Colts franchise moving forward, so this will be something they keep a close eye on in the coming months.
