Liverpool Transfer News: Manuel Lanzini and Leroy Sane Double Blow for Reds

Tom SunderlandNov 15, 2015

Premier League competition could scupper Liverpool's plans for recruitment next summer after West Ham United's Manuel Lanzini voiced his love for London, while Manchester United are muscling in on Leroy Sane.

Lanzini has impressed greatly since arriving on loan at Upton Park from Abu Dhabi outfit Al Jazira last summer and was quoted by the Daily Star's Tony Stenson, detailing the difference between the Middle East and England:

"

London is great - there is so much history and lots of places to discover. I love the one, two-touch football. I am working hard to try and stay here, which is what I want and hope it happens.

I was there [Al Jazira] for a year. It took me a bit of time to adapt but overall it went well. I had to learn Engish (sic) to communicate, although the biggest challenge was the heat. In the summer the heat was a killer. In winter there is 32 degrees. In the summer it can go up to 45 degrees. Here is totally different.

The Premier League may not boast the same sunny climates as his native Argentina, but Lanzini appears to appreciate the colder setting after spending time in one of football's more extreme hot spots.

Last week, Bleacher Report's Dean Jones revealed Liverpool were eyeing a potential move for Lanzini next year, but his preference to remain in east London might end their pursuit before it's even begun:

The Hammers sit sixth in the Premier League after 12 games, four points in front of Liverpool, and manager Slaven Bilic looks capable of taking the club back into European competition.

Lanzini has scored four goals in 12 appearances for West Ham since his summer arrival, and his most recent of those, a wonder strike in November's 1-1 draw against Everton, earned him praise from pundits and writers alike:

All signs suggest the River Plate academy product is capable of carving out a future in the English top flight, and if his progress continues, West Ham may have to worry about more than just Liverpool as competition.

The same can be said for Schalke starlet Sane, after the Sun's Alan Nixon alleged Manchester United are stepping up their interest in the German prodigy.

According to the report, the Red Devils' German scout Peter Braun has been "camped out" to watch the 19-year-old on numerous occasions this season, and he's sure to have been impressed with what he's seen.

Sane has already surpassed his 2014-15 statistics with a record of five goals in 18 games this season, and Squawka Dave painted him as Europe's most prolific player under the age of 20 in 2015:

Liverpool sold Raheem Sterling last summer and sent Lazar Markovic to Fenerbahce on loan, since promoting Jordon Ibe within their ranks and making use of summer signing Roberto Firmino.

Sane made his senior international debut for Germany in last week's friendly clash against France, before which manager Joachim Low piled praise on the teenager, per DW Sports:

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp may look to exploit his Bundesliga links in signing £12 million-rated Sane, but Schalke may have no interest in selling to a former coach of Borussia Dortmund, their most bitter rivals.

United will offer heavy competition in any case and the Red Devils may be eager to strengthen their young attacking options next year, having already added Memphis Depay and Anthony Martial to their squad last summer.
