Bengals' Depth Softened Smith Injury Blow
Per Geoff Hobson of the Bengals' website (h/t Fox Sports), Smith's absence in Week 9 against the Cleveland Browns made him the first Cincinnati offensive starter to not play in a game this year. Injuries have hindered the former first-round pick the last two seasons, as he was able to play only nine games in 2014 after having surgery on his arm in November.
The Bengals plugged in Eric Winston at right tackle in Smith's absence, but the 28-year-old is a stabilizing presence on the offensive line for the team.
