The Jaguars announced Gipson is available to play in Week 6 against Chicago.
Gipson Has History of Injuries
This isn't the first time Gipson has dealt with injury issues. He missed five games in 2014 while with the Cleveland Browns because of a torn MCL. He also missed three games in 2015 from Weeks 5 to 7 thanks to an ankle injury, and it even nagged him after his return.
Prior to the Browns' Week 9 game, Gipson overcame those same ankle problems to play against the Cincinnati Bengals. He also dealt with an illness before Week 10's contest against the Baltimore Ravens.
Gipson is in the midst of his first season with the Jags after recording 14 interceptions in four seasons with the Browns. So far in 2016, he has 10 tackles, one pass defended and one interception.
Gipson is an elite safety when healthy as a former Pro Bowler, but he's appeared in all 16 games in a single season just once.
