Atletico Madrid striker Jackson Martinez was stretchered off late on playing for Colombia against Chile on Nov. 12 after picking up an ankle injury.

Martinez in 'Intense Pain'

Martinez suffered the injury after a heavy collision with Chile's Francisco Silva. After the incident, he admitted feeling "a twisting in his ankle and intense pain," per AS.

Martinez Vital to Atletico's Squad Depth

Manager Diego Simeone will be hopeful Martinez won't be out for much longer as he is a key part of the Atleti squad, appearing in all 11 of their league games this season before suffering his injury, per WhoScored.com.

In Fernando Torres and Angel Correa, Atletico have decent backup for the 29-year-old Martinez, but Simeone needs his whole squad fit if they are to compete for trophies both domestically and in Europe.
