Manchester United Transfer News: Huge Thomas Muller Blow, Anwar El Ghazi Rumours
Manchester United have been dealt a massive blow in their long-term pursuit of Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller as the German striker is reportedly set to pen a new deal with the Bundesliga giants.
Per Italian outlet Calciomercato (via MailOnline's Mike Keegan), United were willing to pay huge money last summer to sign Muller, but they were unable to get their man.
Rumours have continued that they remain interested in the 26-year-old, but Muller is now reportedly set to put pen to paper on a new deal at the Allianz Arena worth around £10 million a season, per German outlet Bild (h/t Jonathan Green in the Daily Star).

Muller's current contract—signed in the summer of 2014—does not expire until 2019, but it is unsurprising that Bayern are looking to sign him up to an extended deal given his immense form this season.
He has been absolutely devastating in front of goal of late—Muller has netted 11 goals in 12 Bundesliga games this season, per WhoScored.
He has combined well with Robert Lewandowski as Pep Guardiola's side have established themselves as Europe's best side in 2015-16, per Bleacher Report's Sam Tighe:
Bayern will no doubt be delighted if and when Muller signs up to a new deal, but it will be a huge blow for United as it will effectively put to bed any possibility of him making the switch to Old Trafford.
Red Devils manager Louis van Gaal will have to look elsewhere for attacking additions, and he is reportedly eyeing a January move for Ajax winger Anwar El Ghazi.
According to Dutch outlet V-Bal (via Metro's Jamie Sanderson), United are eager to bring in the pacey right-sided attacker to add more verve to their play going forward.
Van Gaal recently admitted that he wanted to add more "speed and creativity on the wings" in the new year, per Jack de Menezes in the Independent.
With a goal tally of eight in 10 Eredivisie games this season, 20-year-old El Ghazi could be just the player United need, per WhoScored.
However, United should be wary of expecting too much too soon of players from the Dutch league given that Memphis Depay has struggled to dazzle early in his United career despite an excellent 2014-15 season playing for PSV Eindhoven.
