WWE Desperately Needs Daniel Bryan to Return at Survivor Series 2015

Donald WoodNov 13, 2015

Former world champion Daniel Bryan is one of the most popular Superstars in the history of WWE, but a string of injuries has kept him on the sidelines since April.

With injuries to Seth Rollins and Randy Orton, and John Cena being out of action until December, there is no better time than Survivor Series 2015 to bring Bryan back. The company desperately needs him right now.

In a recent interview for Wrestling Inc., Bryan shared the following about his injury:

"

I think it's just frustrating for me, the whole injury situation. To me, I try to be transparent about it all, about the injury stuff. When people ask me, "Hey, what's going on?" Because, my career more than anybody else's is based on the fans, right? And I try to keep an honest relationship with the fans, and so, if something is leaked out or whatever, it doesn't bother me. I think the frustrating part for me with the injuries is feeling like I've almost let the fans down, because they're the ones who pushed me to the super high level. They were the ones who, without them, I would've never gotten here. They were the ones who wanted it so bad, so it's almost like, I feel like I let them down.

Bryan has also previously stated in an interview with IGN.com he has been cleared by an independent doctor, but WWE’s medical team will not clear him to wrestle. He also stated the company would be going to a third doctor that will likely be the determining factor on whether he comes back.

If Bryan is cleared by the third independent specialist, WWE must bring him back as soon as possible. Rumors have also surfaced that The Rock and Ronda Rousey will not have a wrestling role on the WrestleMania 32 card as previously reported, and the top of the card is very thin.

While Bryan may not be on the same level as The Rock, he is undoubtedly one of the most popular wrestlers of this generation and would instantly add mainstream appeal to the product when he finally makes his triumphant return.

Unlike Brock Lesnar or The Rock who are only able to work limited dates, Bryan adds notoriety on a week-to-week basis and can instantly increase the anticipation from fans for both Raw and SmackDown.

Another positive of bringing Bryan back is the fact he does not need a world title—or even a secondary title for that matter—to be relevant with fans. As the quintessential underdog, the WWE Universe just needs to see someone trying to hold Bryan down before he eventually overcomes the odds.

In the same vein, Bryan will also be a huge asset to WWE due to his ability and willingness to put over other wrestlers. From Roman Reigns to Dean Ambrose to Kevin Owens, there are many stars who have in the past, and will in the future, benefit from Bryan’s talent and professionalism.

Add in the fact there is a whole crop of fresh faces coming up right now that could create marquee feuds against Bryan—from Sami Zayn to Finn Balor to Apollo Crews—and WWE should do whatever it can to get Bryan back into programming at Survivor Series.

Bryan’s health should be the top priority, but if he is medically cleared, WWE desperately needs Bryan coming out of Survivor Series and heading into WrestleMania season.
