Nene checked into his first game in more than a month Wednesday against Cleveland, per J. Michael of CSN Mid-Atlantic.
Nene a Vital Role Player for Wizards
Nene, 33, has established himself as a solid role player off the bench for Washington, providing a big body on the block. He had a strong season for the team in 2014-15, averaging 11.0 points and 5.1 rebounds in 25.3 minutes per game.
This season, he's averaging 7.6 points and 4.9 rebounds in 17.4 minutes per game.
While Nene recovered, starter Kris Humphries played more minutes, and Jared Dudley's role increased as well. Otto Porter Jr. also saw some time at the power forward position. Losing Nene wasn't a major blow for the Wizards, as his game has declined with time, but it did hurt the team's depth amid a spell of multiple injuries as Washington continues its quest to earn one of the top seeds in the Eastern Conference playoffs this year.
