WWE NXT Results: Winners, Grades, Reaction and Highlights from November 11

Erik BeastonNov 11, 2015

The November 11 episode of NXT was one that both set the stage for bigger and better things to come, while also paying off the journey of a tag team surging at the right time with a major championship victory.

Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson captured the tag team title with a win over The Vaudevillains, leaving Aiden English nearly crippled with a leg injury, not unlike that suffered by Colin Cassady.

Samoa Joe left Finn Balor lying flat for the second straight week while simultaneously cementing his status as the most dangerous threat to his NXT Championship.

An interesting alliance between Nia Jax and Eva Marie was teased while Alexa Bliss and Bayley battled in a huge tag team match.

How did each match grade out and what do they mean for the future of the Superstars involved?

Find out now with this recap of Wednesday's WWE Network broadcast of NXT.

Apollo Crews Attacks Baron Corbin

1 of 5

The opening match of the evening was slated to be Baron Corbin vs. "The Perfect 10" Tye Dillinger, but as Corbin was making his was to the ring, he was attacked by Apollo Crews, who was hellbent on avenging the opportunity stolen from him by the Lone Wolf last week.

Corbin retreated as Crews shouted at him.

Analysis

This was a strong way to follow up on last week's finish to the main event but little more than a brief taste of what is to come between the competitors.

The feud is a great way to utilize the talents of both men while simultaneously keeping them involved in something meaningful as Finn Balor and Samoa Joe battle it out for the NXT Championship.

The biggest question is which Superstar needs the win more at this point?

Bayley and The Hype Bros vs. Alexa Bliss, Blake and Murphy

2 of 5

The budding rivalry between Bayley and Alexa Bliss intensified Wednesday night as they competed in a huge six-person tag team match that also featured The Hype Bros, Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy.

Bliss led the latter two to the squared circle while Bayley erupted through the curtain with the energy of Zack Ryder and Mojo Rawley fueling her.

Bayley and Bliss unleashed on each other heading to break before Murphy and Blake settled things down and took control of the bout. They isolated Ryder for the majority of the bout, but Long Island Iced Z reversed an Irish whip and began mounting his team's comeback.

The Hype Bros bumped the former tag team champions around the squared circle while Bliss absconded with the NXT Women's Championship.

Back inside the squared circle, Bayley delivered her Bayley-to-Belly finisher to Blake and her partners finished him off with the Hype Ryder for the win.

Analysis

This was a fun match. Nothing more, nothing less in terms of quality.

What it did right was give fans just a taste of Bayley vs. Alexa Bliss while not allowing either to suffer a pinfall loss.

The one negative was Buddy Murphy bumping for Bayley. He and partner Wesley Blake have been treated like a complete afterthought since dropping the tag title and selling a suplex from the women's champion, no matter how good she is, is not the way to go about helping keep them strong.

Deonna Purrazzo vs. Nia Jax

3 of 5

Nia Jax continued to punish the competition Wednesday night, defeating newcomer Deonna soundly.

She pulled out the Samoan drop, a flurry of headbutts and a running butt splash eerily similar to the one utilized by The Usos en route to a victory, courtesy of a spine buster and leg drop combination.

Moments later, during a backstage segment, Bayley chased Alexa Bliss, only to run into Nia Jax. After a tense moment, Jax handed the women's title back to Bayley, ensuring the rightful champion left with the title.

Nia Jax defeated Deonna

Analysis

The relatively high grade here can be attributed more to the backstage segment that took place after the match than the bout itself, which was any number of generic squashes fans have witnessed countless times before.

An interaction between Jax, Bayley and Bliss is exactly the type of booking decision needed to create interest in a division still rebuilding in the wake of Charlotte, Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks' departure to the main roster.

Where it leads remains to be seen, but it looks as though Jax has the potential to be the tweener character who could help break the mold of clear-cut heels and baby faces on the Divas roster.

The fact Jax walked off with Eva Marie after to the bout should play heavily into whatever story Creative is telling.

The Vaudevillains vs. The Mechanics

4 of 5

The NXT Tag Team Championship was at stake as The Vaudevillains met the surging duo of Dash and Dawson, who clawed their way into title contention with a vicious assault of Big Cass and Enzo Amore a few weeks back.

Just as Cass found himself isolated from his friend and partner, Aiden English found himself in a similar position, away from Simon Gotch and in desperate need of a tag. His knee was pummeled, the target of an orchestrated attack by the challengers, who have made a habit of targeting the lower limbs of his partners.

English nearly lost the title for him and his partner when he suffered a big slingshot suplex, but a well-timed hot tag to Gotch turned the tide back in the champions' favor.

For some reason, Gotch tagged English back into the match despite having all of the momentum on his side, leaving his partner to fend for himself.

Already hurt, English had no choice but to tapout as Dash Wilder trapped him in a deathlock.

The new champions capped off their monumental few weeks with a celebration befitting champions.

Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson defeated The Vaudevillains to win the NXT Tag Team Championship

Grade

A

Analysis

Was the actual match here deserving of an 'A' grade? Probably not, but the storytelling was so strong and effective, and the new champions were put over so strong that it is impossible not to grade it that high.

The leg work provided the contest with tremendous in-ring psychology and further cemented Dawson and Wilder as the most cerebral team in the division.

The only problem this writer had with the match was the inexplicable tag from Gotch to English late. If that is not used to create tension between the partners, it was a horrible slip of logic from two guys typically right on top of those sort of little things.

Finn Balor and Samoa Joe Brawl

5 of 5

One week after his shocking attack of Finn Balor left the NXT champion lying in a heap, Samoa Joe explained his actions to the fans in Full Sail.

In return for being Balor's partner during the Dusty Rhodes Classic, Joe wanted a shot at the NXT Championship. Though the champion granted that wish, he drug his feet and as a result, Joe was entered into a Battle Royal that he lost.

He's Samoa Joe, he argued, and he should have a title shot based on that fact alone.

That brought out Finn Balor, who tried to confront his new rival but was held back by referees. That did not stop Joe from grabbing hold of the Koquina Clutch and choking him out to close the show.

Analysis

And there is the new side of Joe fans have needed to see for months now.

Having accomplished all that he has in his career, it makes complete sense Joe would be an arrogant, obnoxious and entitled villain. After all, his star power alone should be enough to earn him everything he wants and more in NXT.

That he took the opportunity to grab the submission hold as Balor was apprehended only shows he is also a coward.

A great development on a show full of quality storytelling and booking choices.
