Chelsea Transfer News: Goncalo Guedes, Talisca and Oscar Rumours Emerge

Rob BlanchetteNov 11, 2015

Chelsea are tracking Benfica starlets Goncalo Guedes and Talisca as they assess if the pair are suitable for the Stamford Bridge squad.

Guedes is the central focus after the teenage player was called up for the Portuguese national side, drawing comparisons with Cristiano Ronaldo for his overall talent. James Olley of the London Evening Standard said the 18-year-old recently signed a new deal with the Eagles that contains a £42 million release clause should any of Europe's elite try to steal him from the Stadium of Light.

Olley also states the Blues are monitoring 21-year-old Brazilian Talisca, but it is the prodigious winger who interests them more.

A January move for Guedes is said to be "unlikely," per Olley, and a summer bid is more preferable.

Alex Harris of the Daily Star said Arsenal sent scouts to watch Guedes play for his club against Galatasaray in the Champions League, but he is also being tracked by Manchester United, Manchester City and Barcelona.

Football writer Jan Hagen confirmed the multitude of clubs represented at the Champions League contest:

Guedes is one of the most exciting youth talents on the continent, and the comparisons to Ronaldo only serve to ramp up his reputation further.

He mainly featured for the Benfica reserve side last season, but he has now made the breakthrough into the senior team, causing a huge reaction to his ability.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is a known admirer of Talisca, and he commented on the player last year.

The Special One told Portuguese broadcaster TVI24 (h/t Sean Gallagher of the MailOnline): "I think Benfica hired well. They say Talisca is unknown, but he is only so unknown because he's only not playing in England because he doesn't have a work permit. If he had one, he would be here!"

The young attacking midfielder has already made his debut in the Champions League for Benfica, appearing twice this season, per WhoScored.com, and he will surely be targeted by a number of bigger clubs in the months ahead.

Juve Rekindle Oscar Desire

Serie A champions Juventus could use the discussions of Juan Cuadrado's move to Turin as a stage to capture Chelsea's Oscar, according to the Italian media.

Tuttosport (h/t Football Italia) believe the Old Lady want to take advantage of the Blues' woes in the Premier League and tempt the midfielder to join them.

The 24-year-old has been on the fringes of Mourinho's squad this season, playing in only six Premier League games on the domestic front, per WhoScored.com.

The newspaper said Oscar might move if Chelsea miss out on Champions League football—a distinct possibility since they sit just above the relegation zone.

Guedes is a precious talent, and Chelsea will face an almighty battle if they want to purchase a player in the mould of a teenage CR7.

The Blues' current implosion will place them down the pecking order, and if Mourinho doesn't last the season in west London, their favoured targets will think twice about joining the surrendering champions.

Oscar has performed to a high standard since arriving at Chelsea, and his purchase facilitated the end of Juan Mata's career at the Bridge.

However, Mourinho's midfield has looked stale for months, and it would be no surprise if the Brazilian is sold in the summer.
