Rex Ryan Wears Clemson Helmet to Press Conference in Support of His Son

Dan CarsonNov 10, 2015

In fitting Rex Ryan form, the Buffalo Bills head coach stepped to the podium and conducted a press conference in Buffalo on Tuesday while wearing a football helmet.

Just business as usual for another day in the life of Rex:

You'll note it's a Clemson helmet, which is confusing if you're not familiar with Ryan's son Seth, who plays wide receiver for the No. 1 Tigers.

Seth is a redshirt sophomore who's dealt with injuries and hasn't seen much in the way of playing time over his two active seasons with Clemson. He may get a chance to play Saturday, if Clemson blows out Syracuse as handily as it should.

So Rex is being a proud dad—or, as New York Jets safety Calvin Pryor believes, he's just begging for attention as usual.

Rex's former player subtweeted the coach after news of his press conference headgear began making the rounds. Pryor wasn't having it:

Illustrating just how fast word travels now, reporters saw Pryor's tweet and mentioned it to Rex while the presser was still going on.

The coach responded, saying Pryor was still hurting over his alma mater's loss to the Tigers, per the Buffalo News' Tyler Dunne:

It appears Pryor has accepted his "L" in this exchange:

And if no one else did, at least Clemson appreciated Rex's gesture:

And thus we conclude another Rex Ryan Press Conference Variety Hour.

I personally don't blame Rex. Even if he's done this type of thing while coaching other teams, he's in Buffalo now. Winter Buffalo.

I'd be dressing up every day just to keep myself from thinking about the frozen hellscape of lake-effect snow that is going to cover the city like a snowbound Pompeii in a couple months.

Dan is on Twitter. They can change the coffee cups, but they'll never win the war on Rex-ness.
