Bigger Troll: College Sports Fan vs Pro Sports Fan

Nick DimengoNov 12, 2015

There are a lot of similarities and differences between college and pro sports fans, but one thing that they definitely have in common is their ability, and willingness, to troll opposing teams at every opportunity.

While many of us may think this is a dead-even race, I'm giving you a few examples of both college and pro sports fans to determine who is the undisputed champion of trolls—which are acceptable and lighthearted, of course—leaving no doubt about the worst type of sports fans. Well, except for bandwagoners.

7. A Baylor Bears Fan Compared Texas Longhorns Football To The Titanic With Hilarious Video

With Jayson Tatum sidelined, Celtics' fourth-quarter comeback falls short in Game 7 loss to 76ers

After getting off to a 1-4 start, the Texas Longhorns football team has turned things around a little bit, winning three of its next four games to get to 4-5 so far in the 2015 season.

Still, the expectations and rich history of Texas football makes those who wear the Longhorn on the side of their helmet sky high—and that goes for rival fans, too, who have no mercy in holding back when it comes to trolling the proud program.

With Baylor quickly becoming the class of the Big 12 Conference over the past few years, one fan wanted to boast about the Bears' success, taking a nasty shot at UT by making a video that compared the Longhorns to the freaking Titanic!

To say that other fans within the conference are enjoying this downward spiral of Texas is clearly an understatement after watching this.

6. Detroit Lions Fans Troll NFL Officials With Scathing Billboard

If you've watched any football this year, you know that the officials have had more than just a few problems remembering some of the rules of the sport, often costing a team with a bad call in a critical situation.

One of the more prominent missed calls came during a Monday Night Football game between the Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks, when a Lions fumble at the goal line was intentionally knocked out of the back of the end zone by a Hawks player, which should have been called a penalty and the ball placed at the 1-yard line for the Lions.

After the call wasn't called, though, everyone in football seemed to be talking about it, with Lions fans really letting officials hear it by purchasing a billboard that mocked the zebras.

To pay a couple thousand bucks in order to get the last word—even if it wasn't going to change the outcome—is a classic troll move.

5. Nebraska Cornhuskers Fan Trolls Head Coach Mike Riley With Hilarious Craigslist Ad

Over the past decade or so, the Nebraska Cornhuskers have gone from one of the dominant college football programs in the country to one that has fallen from the A-list, rotating through coaches and unable to compete for even conference titles, let alone national ones.

The frustration isn't lost on Huskers fans, either, as they've routinely voiced their opinions and unhappiness—and one guy took things to the next level with a Craigslist ad a couple of weeks ago.

While the ad has been removed after being flagged, its contents were directed at the team's football coach Mike Riley, with its contents saying this, via OregonLive:

"

This football coach was taken in at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln eleven months ago, saved from a sad situation in Corvallis, OR. We assumed that, given a better, more luxurious home, he would adapt to his surroundings and thrive in his new environment. This hasn't been the case. It's now clear that a larger home with greater responsibilities is not the place for him. He would be better off with a gentler home where less is expected of him.

"

This came a week prior to the team beating previously undefeated Michigan State, so maybe the fan has cooled a little bit? Either way, epic troll job here.

4. The New York Giants Fan Reminding Philadelphia Eagles Fans How Many Super Bowls The Franchise Has

The hatred between the New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles is one that runs deep, as fights often break out between their fans and trash-talk always spewing from their mouths.

During a Monday Night Football game earlier this season, one Giants fan took a major dump all over the Eagles and everyone who has ever cheered for them, wearing a customized Philly jersey with the "0" on it and the words "SUPERBOWLS" on the nameplate on back.

The Giants, who have won four Super Bowls in their history, just had a guy who wanted to state the obvious—in the most blatant trolling way possible. That's just mean, man.

3. That Michigan Wolverines Fan Inspired Pumpkin

There might not be a bigger rivalry in college football than the Ohio State Buckeyes and Michigan Wolverines, so anytime the two colleges can find something to troll the other one over, you know it's going down.

Following UM's stunning and devastating loss to in-state rival Michigan State, one Wolverines fan was seen on TV looking as shocked as ever, painting a perfect picture for what every maize and blue supporter felt at that moment.

That image became the perfect one for Ohio State fans to troll that school up north, with a Bucks supporter turning it into a pumpkin to put on their doorstep.

Who knows if it scared anyone away, but it was surely something that threw some salt into the wounds of Michigan backers.

2. The New York Giants Fan With The Tom Brady Wedding Cake Figurine

The New York Giants and New England Patriots have had some memorable games over the years, with the G-Men handing the Pats their only two losses in the Super Bowl during the Tom Brady-Bill Belichick dynasty.

With such tension between the two teams, it's only natural for that dislike to spread to the fans—and one Giants fan trolled her Pats-loving fiance in an amazing way on their wedding day.

Rather than get a fancy cake, Liz Gigliotti gave her hubby a Patriots-themed cake, complete with Tom Brady wearing a wedding dress on top of a deflated football.

That's a pretty sweet troll job if you ask me.

1. That Leonard Fournette "Highlight" Video From The Alabama Game

Considered one of the biggest games of the college football season, when the LSU Tigers traveled to Tuscaloosa to take on the rival Alabama Crimson Tide, many hoped it would live up to the hype of their previous meetings.

With two beastly running backs, Leonard Fournette of LSU and Derrick Henry of 'Bama, many thought this would be an old-school, blue-collar dogfight—but Fournette failed fans.

Rushing for just 31 yards on 19 carries, the Heisman Trophy candidate got a ton of crap from people, with one fan making a 10-second "highlight" video mocking his performance. Ouch.

In Review: College sports fans are the leaders in the clubhouse right now, but could that change? If pro sports fans step up their game, it easily could.
