Manchester United Transfer News: Latest Felipe Anderson, Victor Valdes Rumours
Manchester United reportedly sent one of their top scouts to watch potential transfer target Felipe Anderson in action when Lazio Roma played Rosenborg in the Europa League, only to find out the Brazilian wouldn't play.
That's according to MailOnline's Simon Jones, who claims chief scout Jim Lawlor himself traveled to Norway but returned without any scouting report.
Anderson was one of the top breakout stars of the 2014-15 Serie A campaign and is starting to find his form again after a shaky start to the new season. The 22-year-old has been with Lazio since 2013 and has quickly become one of Italy's most exciting forwards.

Operating mainly as a winger, he's known for his incredible pace and playmaking skills, which saw him score 10 goals and add seven assists in 23 Serie A starts last season, per WhoScored.com. According to TuttoMercatoWeb (h/t Daily Mirror's Liam Corless), he has been a potential target for United for some time now, with a January move a possibility.
Any rumours of Anderson joining the Red Devils during the summer were quickly shot down when the club bought youngster Memphis Depay, but the Dutch international has struggled to adapt to the Premier League and will need more time to make a real impact at Old Trafford.
That opens the door for a potential move for Anderson, even if a transfer remains highly unlikely. The Brazilian's value was as high as ever during the summer window but Lazio refused to sell, so they won't be settling for a lower fee at this point following his slow start to the season. With Juventus stumbling out of the gate, the Serie A title race is wide open, and Lazio will need their main attacking weapon to have any chance of competing.
Anderson would be an excellent short-term replacement for Memphis, but the young Dutchman's long-term potential is still as high as ever, and United don't need to invest a significant amount of money in another winger who prefers to play on the left.
He could potentially replace Juan Mata on the right, but the Spaniard is one of United's most experienced attackers and won't be pushed out of the starting XI anytime soon.
Newcastle United Deal Back on for Victor Valdes?

Out-of-favour goalkeeper Victor Valdes will reportedly sign for Newcastle United on a free transfer, according to Sportmediaset (h/t Metro's Jamie Sanderson).
The veteran stopper apparently came close to completing an emergency loan move to the Magpies last week before the deal fell through, and it now seems Newcastle will instead try to sign Valdes during the January transfer window.
The former Barcelona star hasn't seen a minute of action with United in the 2015-16 campaign after a row with manager Louis van Gaal during the summer, per the Daily Mirror's David McDonnell.
As shared by the Manchester Evening News' Samuel Luckhurst, the club has done whatever possible to make it clear he's no longer welcome since then:
Valdes remains one of the better value options on the market for clubs looking for an experienced, veteran option in goal. He was always considered to be a good starter for the Blaugrana before a devastating knee injury ended his time at the Camp Nou, and he should be a worthwhile addition to any club struggling for answers at the position in January.
The Red Devils won't be sorry to see him go and likely won't give the Magpies too much trouble during negotiations. It's incredible Valdes is still with United after all this time, but if all parties involved are interested in making this move happen, he should be able to leave the club during January.
