Barcelona Transfer News: Kaka Rumours Emerge, Domenico Berardi Latest

Tom SunderlandNov 8, 2015

A busy winter transfer window awaits Barcelona in 2016, and the rumour mill is in full flow following reports former Real Madrid midfielder Kaka could move to the Camp Nou, while Domenico Berardi is reportedly keen on a move.

Major League Soccer's winter break means some stars can move to Europe on short-term contracts, and Italian outlet Calciomercatoweb.it reported Orlando City's Kaka has "been offered to the Blaugrana" (h/t Spanish newspaper Sport):

"

According to that source, Kaka - after his MLS commitments and taking into account that he was called up by Brazil - wants to avoid stopping for a length of time, and has been offered to Barcelona, where Ariedo Braida, who brought him to Italy while with AC Milan, has taken note. Kaka likes the idea of returning to Spanish football, where he didn't leave a great image during his spell at Real Madrid.

Kaka moved to Florida in 2014, but he could make a return to Europe more than 18 months after leaving his second stint with Milan in order to ease Barcelona's injury woes.

Manager Luis Enrique has seen his resources devastated due in part to the club's 2015 transfer embargo, per BBC Sport, preventing the club from registering new players this year, while injuries have affected selection.

Lionel Messi has recently been sidelined with a knee injury, while Andres Iniesta, Ivan Rakitic, Rafinha and Sergi Roberto have also spent time out of action due to different maladies.

Despite his age, Kaka has been recalled into Dunga's Brazil team in recent months, where the manager insisted the veteran playmaker is still of use, according to South American football writer Rupert Fryer:

Kaka spent four years at Real between 2009 and 2013, which might pose a problem in sanctioning the deal, but if Enrique can see use for the former Blanco as a short-term loan, the transfer could stand to be a profitable one.

A more youthful option for the Blaugrana to pursue would be Italy under-21 international Berardi, who this week told Sky Sport that Lionel Messi stands among his greatest idols (via FourFourTwo):

"I have never really thought about playing for Barcelona, but it would be great to just train alongside Messi. If I had to pick between Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, I would pick Messi. An attacking trio of Messi, Neymar and Berardi would not be bad at all..."

Unfortunately, even if the youngster were to earn himself a move to the Camp Nou, Luis Suarez might have something to say about the Sassuolo forward forming his dream attacking trio.

But that may not stop Barca from taking heed of Berardi's words as a form of come-and-get-me plea. Bleacher Report's Adam Digby might recommend the Blaugrana invest, too, after hailing Berardi as an "incredible" talent:

After previously co-owning Berardi alongside Sassuolo, it's understood Juventus still have a buyback clause in his deal, according to Football Italia, but Barca might take the initiative before the Bianconeri have a chance.

In any case, Gianluca Di Marzio translator David Amoyal insisted the player himself and Sassuolo will have a major say in deciding where the winger moves to and when:

Enrique already has right-sided pair Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal ready to join his squad when their transfer embargo ends on January 1, but Berardi is an intriguing prospect the Spaniards might yet examine as a target.

With 44 goals in 112 appearances for Sassuolo, the versatile attacker is already leaving his mark on Serie A, and Juve's miss could prove to be Barca's gain if they manage to make a January swoop for his services.
