Fans on Twitter Unimpressed by Another Uninspiring Manchester United Performance
Manchester United secured their fifth consecutive clean sheet en route to a 2-0 win over West Brom at Old Trafford, but followers were left unimpressed by another tepid performance from Louis van Gaal's men.
The first half was especially frustrating for United fans, as Wayne Rooney struggled once again:
"Four shots on target for Manchester United in their last four first halves at Old Trafford in the league.

The home side's profligacy seemed to be spreading to their fans...and their stationery:
"Half time comp on pitch. Little girl says she's going to take a penalty like Rooney... staying true to her word, she misses

"Poor lads pen ran out at the pivotal moment. #LVG https://t.co/y39eEGF5eY

Critics were quick to identify where United were going wrong:
"That first half reinforces a point Rio Ferdinand made last week: United don't make teams defend. One shot on target simply not good enough.
— Chris Fleming (@Chris__Fleming) November 7, 2015"
"United need to be more urgent at CM with the ball. Too slow and pedestrian. Herrera's movement and impetus is needed. #MUFC

"Little by little United just morphing into something else. Defensive record very impressive but so little wit and imagination going forward
— James Ducker (@DuckerTheTimes) November 7, 2015"
Half-time came and went, before Old Trafford was brought to life by an exquisite goal from 22-year-old Jesse Lingard, his first for the club.
"Lovely finish Lingard

"Lovely finish from Jesse Lingard. Really good goal. The monotony pierced. United 1-0 up #MUFC #WBA

The goal came just as the fans had begun to lose patience:
"#MUFC fans chant ‘attack, attack, attack’—Jesse Lingard delivers. Great finish. 1-0. pic.twitter.com/MYTla1JXzB
— Bleacher Report UK (@br_uk) November 7, 2015"
"No sooner do the "attack, attack, attack" chants begin then Jesse Lingard bends in an exquisite goal. That was not on the cards.
— Nick Ames (@NickAmes82) November 7, 2015"
"Man United are on fire. That's two goals in two games.
— Matthew Stanger (@MatthewStanger) November 7, 2015"
But watchers were full of praise for the goalscorer:
"Jesse Lingard turns 23 next week. Just his second start in the top flight. Finally getting (and taking) his chance.
— Daniel Storey (@danielstorey85) November 7, 2015"
"We'll never know but wonder where Lingard would be in terms of development if he hadn't got injured in Van Gaal's first game.
— Rob Dawson (@RobDawsonMEN) November 7, 2015"
Juan Mata added a late second from the spot, as United held on to take the three points.
