All-Stars cricket, the brainchild of Warne and Tendulkar, is aiming to introduce the game of cricket to America.
The talent on show is quite incredible and a high-quality and exciting match is in prospect at the home of the MLB's New York Mets.
The prospect of Lara and Tendulkar batting alongside each other is exciting given they are arguably the two greatest batsmen of their generation.
In Warne, Walsh, Donald and Akram, though, they could have their work cut out, as a more accomplished quartet of retired bowlers it would be difficult to find.
England are represented by Graeme Swann and Michael Vaughan, and they will be more than familiar with former Ashes rivals Warne, Glenn McGrath, Matthew Hayden, Ricky Ponting and Andrew Symonds.
Recently retired Sri Lankan legends Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene are also set to turn out against each other.
Sangakkara could be very influential given that he was playing top-level international cricket as recently as August before calling it a day.
The shorter-form T20 is designed for maximum entertainment, and the players will be hoping to catch the interest of an unfamiliar American audience:
Big hitting is all but guaranteed at Citi Field on Saturday and, given the experience on both sides, it should be a highly competitive contest.
With two more matches coming up in Houston and Los Angeles, Saturday's clash will set the tone for what will be a thrilling introduction to cricket for many American fans.
