NFL Week 9 Betting Picks: Fade Patriots, Broncos, Panthers on the Odds

OddsShark.comNov 4, 2015

The New England Patriots, the Denver Broncos and the Carolina Panthers are three of the four undefeated teams left in the NFL at 7-0 heading into Week 9. Two of the three are favored, while the other is an underdog. None of them will cover the spread Sunday.

The defending Super Bowl champion Patriots are the biggest favorites on the board as 14-point chalk at sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark.

They are hosting the Washington Redskins (3-4), who are coming off their bye week and have had extra time to figure out a good game plan to hang around in what is perceived by oddsmakers as a lopsided matchup.

Washington’s defense has done a solid job keeping the team in games most of the season, with none of the four losses decided by more than 14 points. The Redskins will stay within two touchdowns here.

The Broncos are coming off a 29-10 rout of the previously unbeaten Green Bay Packers on Sunday night, proving themselves as legit Super Bowl contenders.

They are five-point road favorites against the Indianapolis Colts (3-5), who lost 29-26 at Carolina in overtime on Monday night. Denver would appear to be an easy pick except for the fact that Indianapolis has won two of the three meetings since future Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning left town.

That includes a 24-13 road win by the Colts as 9.5-point underdogs in the divisional playoffs on January 11. Indy may not win this one but will battle hard yet again and keep it close until the end.

The Panthers were lucky to get by the Colts after blowing a 17-point lead in the fourth quarter and cannot afford to play that way versus the Packers. Green Bay has more offensive weapons than Indianapolis and will be motivated to bounce back in this spot.

The Packers are small road favorites for a reason, and they have won their last five games following a loss. Carolina has failed to cover two of four home games and will find its last victory too exhausting for a repeat performance to keep the team perfect.
