"It was a long process but I'm happy with the decision I made," Stanback said, per Scout.com's Josh Gershon. "I thought it was the best place for me, not just for the academics but because of the staff and players."
According to 247Sports' composite rankings, Stanback is the 18th-best power forward for the 2016 crop of recruits, and he ranks 98th overall.
Stanback was slowed by injury in his junior season, playing in only eight games, according to MaxPreps.com. He averaged 6.1 points per game, down from the 9.1 and 9.6 points per game he posted in his freshman and sophomore years, respectively.
Scoring will be an area of improvement for him once he arrives at Stanford, but he could provide an immediate impact for the Cardinal on the glass and in the paint as a rim protector. Stanback is a tremendous rebounder at this stage of his career, and he uses his impressive wingspan to alter the trajectory of shots inside.
Stanback may not take on a starring role for Stanford in his first year with the team, but over time, he should grow into one of the Cardinal's most important players.
