Wright Struggling to Stay Healthy in 2015
Wright suffered a sprained MCL in the Titans' Week 8 loss to Houston and saw his 2015 production drop when Zach Mettenberger replaced injured rookie Marcus Mariota at quarterback. Following Week 13, Wright has recorded just 390 yards and three touchdowns on 33 receptions this season.
The Titans also fired head coach Ken Whisenhunt after a 1-6 start, so Tennessee is in the midst of a rebuild and might as well preserve a valuable player like Wright with an eye toward 2016 at this point.
Although it'd be ideal for Wright to build chemistry with Mariota, that rapport can grow through next year's training camp and during the offseason, as Mariota may miss the remainder of the season with a knee injury. Health is paramount for the foundational pillars the Titans are going to build around amid a lost 2015 campaign.
