Kelly Diagnosed with Left Femur Fracture, Out 6-8 Months
Tuesday, Nov. 3
Bruins general manager Don Sweeney released a statement Tuesday evening confirming the diagnosis. According to Sweeney, Kelly was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital and is scheduled to undergo surgery Wednesday.
It didn't appear as though there was much contact on the play. Rather, Kelly's skate seemed to get caught on the ice, which caused him to fall at an unfortunate angle.
Entering Tuesday's game, Kelly had tallied two goals and a plus/minus rating of plus-three in more than 14 minutes on ice per game.
But as CSNNE.com's Joe Haggerty noted, the loss of Kelly's production isn't a primary concern:
Given the severity of Kelly's injury and the estimated timetable for recovery, it would seem he's unlikely to return to the ice until the start of next season at the earliest.
