Well, it looks like he is still confused.

Smalling played a key role in Manchester United's 1-0 win over CSKA Moscow on Tuesday night, and Van Gaal was keen to praise M̶i̶c̶h̶a̶e̶l̶ Chris.

As per the Guardian's Daniel Taylor:
