Kaleb Ramsey Suspended 4 Games: Latest Details, Comments, Reaction

San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Kaleb Ramsey was suspended four games without pay Tuesday for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances, according to CSN Bay Area's Matt Maiocco. ESPN's Josina Anderson confirmed the report, citing agent Thomas Santanello as a source. 

"He took an over-the-counter supplement from GNC that contained a banned substance," Santanello said, per Anderson. "It was a mistake. He is very apologetic."    

John Dickinson of 95.7 The Game reported the team signed cornerback Chris Davis to its practice squad as Ramsey's replacement.     

A seventh-round pick in the 2014 draft out of Boston College, Ramsey missed the entirety of his rookie season after tearing his Achilles. According to Pro-Football-Reference.com, Ramsey has yet to appear in a regular-season game. 

Ramsey hasn't been able to crack the active roster and prove himself along San Francisco's defensive line, so his suspension shouldn't have any bearing on the team's approach in the weeks ahead.
