Darren Anderton just can't catch a break...even at 43.

The former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder was forever on the treatment table during his professional career, picking up the nickname "Sicknote" for his troubles.

And, as BBC commentator Conor McNamara noted on Monday night, he was supposed to take part in a half-time crossbar challenge during the match between Spurs and Aston Villa. Alas, he was forced to pull out with an injury.

Anderton, who played for England at the 1998 World Cup, now does charity work for the club.

Darren Anderton did not miss the crossbar challenge because he was injured. He didn't take too kindly to the suggestion, either.
