Chargers Reportedly Shopping Weddle

Florio previously reported San Diego is shopping the safety despite his status as a three-time Pro Bowler and two-time first-team All-Pro.
Weddle Has Been Model of Consistency For San Diego D
Weddle is in the last year of his contract, which means the Chargers could get some value for a player who may leave as a free agent in the offseason anyway if they pull the trigger on a trade.
One of the things that could entice teams to trade for Weddle is his durability.
Although the safety suffered a groin injury in the team's Week 6 matchup against the Green Bay Packers and missed San Diego's contest against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, Rand Getlin of NFL Network noted teams should not be concerned, and Weddle will be back on the field soon.
He played all 16 games in each of the previous five seasons, which is impressive in light of all the injuries around the league in Week 8. He boasts 19 career interceptions (seven of which came in an incredible 2011 season) and three defensive touchdowns. He is solid in run support and can stick with tight ends and receivers on passing plays.
He also dishes out punishment when opponents cross the middle.
Weddle is 30 years old, which means his prime years of production may be winding down, but a playoff contender could maximize his talent for the rest of the season.
From San Diego’s perspective, there could be more to this than receiving some value beyond a compensatory pick before Weddle leaves in the offseason. Weddle missed OTAs in the offseason with contract concerns, and head coach Mike McCoy reportedly told players to move on without the safety, according to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune (via Darin Gantt of ProFootballTalk).
They will have no choice if the team trades him.
