Luck's Injury Worse Than Thought

Thursday, Dec. 31

Stephen Holder of IndyStar.com reported, according to a source, that "Luck sustained torn cartilage on two of his ribs and was still coping with significant pain after returning to the lineup for four games in late October and early November."

Luck Out for Week 17

Wednesday, Dec. 30

Head coach Chuck Pagano said Luck will not play in Sunday's game, per Mike Chappell of Fox 59, adding that he won't get enough reps and isn't medically cleared to play.

Pagano added that new additions Josh Freeman and Ryan Lindley took most of the reps at Wednesday's practice, per Steve Andress of CBS 4.

Luck Injury Leads to Messy Colts QB Situation

It appears Freeman or Lindley will get the chance under center. Both are NFL veterans who have not started a game in the NFL this season, but the Colts have little choice with injuries to Luck, Matt Hasselbeck and Charlie Whitehurst.

While the Colts need a multitude of things to happen to make the playoffs, they're technically not eliminated. If they're granted a miracle and do get in, perhaps Luck will be able to take the field.

Until then, the Colts will rely on Freeman or Lindley to provide one game of stability in Week 17.
