Ball to Potentially Reunite with John Fox in Chicago

Monday, Nov. 2

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported the Chicago Bears are at least expressing an interest in signing Ball.

Head coach John Fox told reporters Matt Forte may play again at some point in the 2015 season, per Pro Football Talk's Michael David Smith, but he will be out for the time being. Ball could be the stopgap in the backfield until Forte is healthy again.

Ball has rushed for 731 yards and five touchdowns in 21 NFL games. He played under Fox for two years with the Denver Broncos, so he'd have some continuity with Chicago's offensive game plan should he sign with the team.

The 24-year-old is far from a sure thing—averaging 3.1 yards a carry in five games in 2014—but he would be a solid addition for the Bears all things considered.
