Brown Not Likely to be Dealt
Tuesday, Nov. 3
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported teams have called the Chargers about Brown, but he's not likely to be dealt with Branden Oliver dealing with a toe injury.
Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk is surprised teams are eager for a move at all, noting that "it’s hard to imagine anyone wanting to trade for him. Earlier in the season, the Chargers cut him in a Saturday we-need-a-roster-spot-elsewhere move. It made him a free agent, and no one else tried to sign him before the Chargers brought him back the following week."
Brown Provides Chargers With Veteran Emergency RB Option
Brown, 28, hasn't registered a catch or carry for the Chargers this season, as he's buried on the depth chart below Melvin Gordon, Danny Woodhead and Branden Oliver. Barring an injury, he isn't a part of San Diego's plans at running back, so trading him would make sense.
Brown has proved to be a serviceable, if unspectacular back in his career, rushing for 2,600 yards and 17 touchdowns in seven seasons. He's never rushed for over 650 yards in a season, though he would provide a veteran presence at the position and is a decent option in the passing game.
While he isn't a difference-maker, he would be a solid depth addition for a team on the market that is currently weak at running back.
