Browns' Asking Price for Mack Revealed

Tuesday, Nov. 3

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported the Browns are asking for a third-round pick for Mack, adding it was a "steep" demand.

Mack Comments on Trade Rumors

Monday, Nov. 2

Mack released a statement reminding fans he holds a no-trade clause, per ESPN's Adam Schefter: "I have a no-trade clause in my contract," Mack said. "It was included for a good reason: I'm not leaving my teammates, coaches and Browns fans while there is work this season to be finished."

Mack an Essential Piece to Browns O-Line

Mack, 29, has been with the Browns since being selected No. 21 overall in 2009. The California product is a two-time Pro Bowler and one-time All-Pro, emerging alongside Thomas as a consistent fixture on the interior. After playing all 16 games in his first five seasons, he was limited to five games in 2014 due to a broken fibula and hasn't quite returned to form through Cleveland's first seven contests this season.

Pro Football Focus ranks Mack 13th among centers in its overall grades. He grades out just barely above league average overall, which isn't ideal for a player making $8 million to anchor the interior, per Spotrac

Moving on from Mack and Thomas now would signal the Browns are considering a full-scale rebuild rather than trying to compete for a division crown anytime soon. They're 2-6 heading into Week 9, six games behind the undefeated Cincinnati Bengals in the loss column and third in the AFC North. With yet another season below the .500 mark likely upcoming, the front office might be smart to consider cutting bait now and trying to rebuild around young talent.
