Liverpool Transfer News: Neven Subotic Linked, Alberto Moreno Talks Exit Rumours
Liverpool could reportedly snap up Borussia Dortmund centre-back Neven Subotic as they attempt to add strength to their weak defensive unit.
Subotic was a big favourite of Reds manager Jurgen Klopp when the German was in charge at Dortmund.
German football expert Raphael Honigstein has indicated that, while Klopp will not raid his former club for signings, out-of-favour Subotic could be a genuine and worthwhile target for Liverpool, per BT Sport (h/t Adam Skinner in the Express):

"His former CEO and chairman at Dortmund said Klopp wouldn’t target any of his players. There is probably a deal to be made with Subotic, who has been out of favour. He is one of the few players who was personally picked by Klopp for Dortmund when he was at Mainz. Most of the players were bought by the club rather than him.
"
Subotic has made only one Bundesliga start this season under new Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel, with Mats Hummels and Sokratis Papastathopoulos the preferred centre-back paring, per WhoScored.com.
However, the Serbia international is an experienced and high-quality centre-back, and he won two Bundesliga titles with Dortmund under Klopp.
While Liverpool have been decent in defence this season—they have conceded 11 goals in 10 Premier League games—the likes of Martin Skrtel and Dejan Lovren look vulnerable at times.
The 26-year-old Subotic would undoubtedly be an upgrade on the duo, and he would fit easily into Klopp's setup having worked under him previously.
In the last two Premier League seasons, Liverpool conceded a combined 98 goals in 76 matches. That is not good enough for a team with supposed title aspirations.
The current crop of centre-backs at Anfield are not good enough, but the addition of Subotic could bring some genuine composure to the back line.
Meanwhile, Reds left-back Alberto Moreno has committed his future to the club despite previous rumours that he may be set for a move away from Anfield, per David Maddock in the Mirror.

The talented young Spaniard has admitted to being frustrated by his lack of game time under previous manager Brendan Rodgers, but he insisted that he never intended to leave the club, per Andy Hunter in the Guardian: "It never entered my head that I was going to leave, I am staying here, that is for sure, but I was angry when I was out the team."
Moreno has thrived in the short time Klopp has been in charge on Merseyside as he has begun to make good on his immense potential.
It can only be good news for Liverpool that he is committed to staying at the club as, at 23 years old, he could become a stalwart of the side.
