Liverpool Transfer News: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Blow, Latest Reds Rumours

Rob BlanchetteOct 29, 2015

Borussia Dortmund attacker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has dashed hopes of a reunion with former coach Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, declaring he will move to La Liga over the Premier League.

The BVB player told BBC World Service (h/t BBC Sport) his "dream" is to move to southern Europe when his deal—which runs til 2020—runs down, playing in the country of his mother's birth:

"

After that contract I have this dream to play in Spain. I hope that will happen but when? I don't know.

Lots of people think that the Premier League would good for me but my mum is Spanish and I really have that dream to play over there.

After that maybe one day the Premier League but for the moment I aim to one day play in Spain.

The Gabon international's form has helped Dortmund achieve a much better start to the campaign, compared to last year when Klopp saw his team sink into the relegation zone. BVB are currently second in the Bundesliga behind Bayern Munich—a position they are much more comfortable in than 12 months ago.

Aubameyang has been a major factor in their recent success, as the 26-year-old has plundered 16 goals in 12 league and European club appearances, according to WhoScored.com.

The player can feature across the midfield and attack, but he would have given Klopp the weaponry to increase the Reds' goal count at a time when scoring is a concern. The German coach needs to look forward in the hope he can bring a striker to Anfield to support his attacking philosophy, and Aubameyang would have been the perfect fit.

Dortmund's Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (R) is congratulated by Dortmund's headcoach Juergen klopp after the German Cup (DFB - Pokal) quarter final football match Eintracht Frankfurt vs Borussia Dortmund in Frankfurt am Main, central Germany

Liverpool have struggled to find the net during Klopp's short time on Merseyside, and the coach believes many of his players are anxious when it comes to the art of scoring, per the Press Association (h/t the Observer):

"

It is important to get more stable but I saw the pressure on the players when they missed a chance.

I saw some players they were so stiff in their minds... ‘Now we have to shoot’... we have to decide better [when it comes to] shooting, passing. When we go in the box we have to be better. It is only important you are always able to make the right decision at the right time because they have the quality to finish and create chances.

"

Klopp will have to look elsewhere unless he can convince Aubameyang about the joys of playing in England, but with the player tied to a huge contact, the German manager will have to fully review his options.

Allan Returns To Anfield To Link Up With Klopp

Prodigious Brazilian teenager Allan has returned to Liverpool after his short loan at SJK Seinajoki, helping them win the Finnish league during his stay.

The 18-year-old said he is now looking forward to training under Klopp after linking up with the German, saying he trusts what the coach has in store for him, as quoted by Jonathan Green of the Daily Star:

"

I'll be focusing on my training sessions at Liverpool for the next month or two when I return and we'll see what happens after that, but I trust Liverpool and rely on their decision - I'll do whatever they feel is appropriate for me.

For now, my main objective is to gain more experience - it's not yet the time to think about winning big things.

"

Allan signed for the club under Brendan Rodgers, with the former boss paying £500,000 for his signature from Internacional, according to Green.

The player added he wants to bring "joy" to the Liverpool fanbase, per Green, and that the team can count on him to do his best when he's on the pitch.

Seinajoki boss Simo Valakari believes Liverpool have a diamond in their ranks after seeing Allan firsthand, per Goal.com (h/t Green): "He has huge, unbelievable potential. He has big technical ability, a wonderful left foot and the football intelligence to use it. Allan is small, but very strong - he uses his body well and positions himself cleverly. He can pick any pass in a game, and understands space very well."

Klopp will begin to get a feel for what he needs after working with the Liverpool squad for a few weeks and watching how they perform home and away.

Allan is a technical midfielder, and if Klopp can liberate his attacking game, he could rapidly make strides into the first-team environment.

Losing the chance to acquire Aubameyang will disappoint the coach, especially as he knows so much about the player.

However, if Klopp can get Christian Benteke and Daniel Sturridge fit in the weeks ahead, the need to purchase a striker will not be as urgent as it appears at present.
