Real Madrid Transfer News: Cristiano Ronaldo Exit Rumours Fuelled by Jose Semedo

Rory MarsdenOct 29, 2015

Cristiano Ronaldo's friend and former team-mate Jose Semedo has suggested the Real Madrid superstar will return to play in England again before the end of his career.

The 30-year-old Los Blancos forward has been sporadically linked with a return to former club Manchester United over the past couple of seasons, per the Manchester Evening News' Rob Dawson.

Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Semedo—a team-mate of Ronaldo's at Sporting Clube de Portugal—believes his compatriot is eager to return to England and wishes Real played in the Premier League, per talkSPORT's Drivetime show (via Jack Austin of the radio station's website):

"

He is very happy at Real Madrid and he loves English football, he loves English people and deep down I think he will come back to England. It doesn’t look like he wants to finish his career without coming back to England. He said he would wish Real Madrid is in England, but that is not possible so I believe he will end his career in English football.

"

Ronaldo's current contract at Madrid runs until 2018. Real will surely be eager to keep hold of their star man at least until that deal expires.

Since moving to the Bernabeu from United for £80 million in 2009, he has consistently proved to be an invaluable asset as Real's undisputed No. 1 player and one of the two best in the world—alongside Lionel Messi.

Despite being almost 31 years old, he is showing no signs of slowing down, continuing to score goals at a phenomenal rate—his 2015-16 tally currently stands at a combined 12 goals in 12 games in La Liga and the Champions League, per WhoScored.com.

However, rumours have been circulating that he is not entirely happy at the Bernabeu and is reportedly "sick" of working under new manager Rafael Benitez, per El Chiringuito de Jugones (via Marc Williams in the Daily Star).

Real are currently top of La Liga and have yet to lose a match in the 2015-16 domestic campaign.

While United would welcome him back with open arms, they cannot boast such form or Real's level of competitiveness in the Champions League.

But Ronaldo may be tempted to return to Old Trafford in order to return them to their former glory.

Equally, if he is indeed unhappy under Benitez, he may be persuaded to move to Paris Saint-Germain, who have long been linked with the Portugal captain, per Sky Sports' Guillem Balague.

Rumours of Ronaldo's potential departure from Real will persist until he finally leaves the Bernabeu or he retires. But according to Semedo, a return to England is far from out of the question.
