HES BACK! RANGERS SIGN DUBINSKY

Mr. ControversySep 20, 2009

After a long off season of negotiations and a nerve racking salary battle, the Rangers finally sign Brandon Dubinsky to a two year deal worth $3.7 million.

This is a relief to Ranger fans and the Ranger team who is so desperate for another center.  After missing a week of practice and a few games, Brandon will be at practice tomorrow with his teammates.

This could and should have all been avoided. Dubinsky was asking for 1.4 million with a multi- year deal and the Rangers continued to refuse him.  Just to sign him for a lousy 100,000 less then he wanted. Glen Glen Glen!  Once again you show us your true intelligence!

You might say well they signed him and that is all that matters , and yes part of that is true.  But when you have been a Ranger fan for as long as I have, and you went through the decades of Glen Sather signing old , washed up players for outlandish amounts of money, who produce and add nothing to the Rangers team. You can’t help but to say what the hell as the aggravation and hatred builds up.

Here they are trying to rebuild this team with young, strong, determined players and Glen wants to have a salary battle with one of his most needed players.  It is called priority, and when you choose not to sign one of the most prominent and aggressive centers in the league, when your team most definitely needs him, is stupidity.  I don’t care what the sports labor agreement says. Glen Sather proved nothing with these actions and Brandon was indeed worth what he was asking.  Maybe if Brandon was 50 years old with  a drug habit and one leg, Glen would have sign him for 10 million for the year.  And Just to sign him for $100,000 less just adds to the question, if the battle was even worth it for them and just how smart is Glen Sather?

Some will say well it was only a week. As a former hockey player, I can tell you that a week was indeed important .  The chemistry and learning to play with the likes of a Marion Gaborik is crucial to this team, especially when Brandon is supposedly centering the first line.  Learning to read your teammates, and being able to anticipate their next move  is what practice is all about and it helps you win games.  They only get a month to practice hard before the opener,  So yes, everyday is important.

But Brandon is signed and we can sit back and sigh with relief and hope that this year will be a much better year for young Brandon Dubinsky and this young Ranger team.

This is Brandon’s  golden opportunity. So far he has been very fortunate. In his short career he has played with some great players. Jarimr Jagr,  Brendon Shanahan , Marcus Naslund and now one of the most exciting wingers in the league , Marion Gaborik.  He has to make the best of this chance and prove he was worth every penny of that 3.7 million. Look for him to add defense to this team, which should also help the younger defenseman as well as adding to the scoring treat.  He should be good for 50-60 points this year.

WELCOME BACK DUBBS!!!!
