Charlotte, Paige and the WWE Diva Power Rankings for Week of October 28

Erik BeastonOct 28, 2015

A shakeup atop the Divas Power Rankings caps off a fairly eventful week for the women of World Wrestling Entertainment.

Divas champion Charlotte scored the biggest win of the week, a pay-per-view victory over Nikki Bella at Hell in a Cell 2015. But was that enough for her to overcome the tenacious twin, who rebounded with an impressive win just 24 hours later on Raw?

What effect does Paige's definitive heel turn have on the top of the rankings?

Alexa Bliss and Asuka continued to gain momentum in their hunt for the Women's Championship with wins on the October 21 episode of NXT. How will those wins affect their positioning in this week's rankings?

And which Divas, if any, will say goodbye in favor of newcomers to the list?

With each position based on in-ring performance, storyline progression, win-loss record and overall importance of the Diva's participation on the show, these are the Divas Power Rankings for October 28.

10. Becky Lynch

1 of 10

Last Week: N/A

The Lass Kicker was bounced from last week's rankings thanks to an influx of newcomers but returns this week on the strength of her in-ring performance on Raw and the continued development of a rivalry with Paige.

Lynch is still criminally misused by WWE Creative, forced to stand in the background and watch as others reap the rewards, but her increased television and ring time has been a welcome development.

Until WWE Creative takes her seriously and lets her prove why the fans were so vocal and so passionate during her entry into Raw's Six-Diva Tag Team match, though, she will continue to suffer from a lack of character development as long as she is forced to take a back seat as Charlotte's lackey.

She can take solace in returning to the rankings now, but with Nia Jax returning to NXT this week, do not be surprised to see her fall out of the top 10 again if she does not begin building momentum.

9. Brie Bella

2 of 10

Last Week: 8

Brie Bella falls a spot this week in the rankings, due largely to the fact that other NXT stars made big jumps.

The descent does not in any way reflect the week she has had. On the contrary, the former Divas champion appeared in one televised match, a Six-Diva Tag Team match on Raw, and emerged on the winning team.

Brie is an interesting case at this point, because like the previously mentioned Becky Lynch, she has very much become a voiceless lackey. Standing by her sister Nikki's side and echoing her sentiments whenever she is allowed some promo time, Brie seems content to sit back and allow her sibling to bask in the spotlight.

This, despite the fact that Nikki turned heel on her a year ago and treated her as a servant for 30 days after a monumental defeat at Hell in a Cell 2014.

But WWE Creative would never allow such small details like that to get in the way of the story it wants to tell.

8. Natalya

3 of 10

Last Week: 6

Natalya's fall in this week's rankings can be attributed to the third-generation Diva's absence from television. Though the backstage attack that left her lying in a heap remained the topic of conversation, with accusations abounding that Paige was to blame for the beatdown, the fact that Natalya did not appear contributed to her two-spot descent.

Arguably the most naturally gifted wrestler on the roster, the impending matches between her and Paige should make for some tremendous television, but it still very much feels like the pink-and-black-clad Diva remains on the outside looking in on the Divas Revolution.

That could all change with some strong booking that reminds fans of how great she is.

Until then, she will continue to be an awesome worker, the most skilled technician on the Divas roster.

7. Alexa Bliss

4 of 10

Last Week: 9

Alexa Bliss returned to NXT TV this week, just one week after interrupting Bayley's celebration and implying that she will be the next challenger for the top prize in NXT women's wrestling.

She scored an impressive win over the taller and stronger Peyton Royce and reiterated her intentions to take the women's title away from the brand's most beloved star.

Bliss has excelled as a heel, working a smarter style between the ropes and displaying excellent body language and expressions in the role. Most impressive has been her mic work, which is so much better than expected for someone who never really had the time to speak in front of the WWE Universe before.

The Ohio native has been a joy to watch as a villain thus far, and if she can continue to improve all elements of her performance, she can very well become one of the breakout stars of 2016.

6. Asuka

5 of 10

Last Week: 7

"Asuka's gonna kill you!" chants have become common at NXT as the Japanese star continues to unleash her wrath on anyone unlucky enough to share the ring with her.

This week, it was the accomplished Billie Kay, who has waged war with her fellow newcomer on countless occasions during their time wrestling around the world. The familiarity with her opponent could not help her, though, as Asuka smiled away a kick and applied the Asuka Lock for the win.

Asuka's look is fantastic, and her entrance even better. The fans love her, and her in-ring work is light-years beyond that of anyone else, including Bayley.

It will only be a matter of time before she is challenging for the women's title and winning it, making her one of the must-see performers in all of WWE at this point.

5. Sasha Banks

6 of 10

Last Week: 4

After scoring submission victories over Nikki Bella and wowing the wrestling world with a half-hour Iron Man match against Bayley at TakeOver: Respect, Sasha Banks has fallen back into irrelevance on the main roster.

Perhaps the "We want Sasha" chants that rained down on the Divas action from Chicago a few weeks back doomed her in the eyes of management, forcing them to cool her off so she does not become a star whose responses from the audience hijack shows in the same manner that Daniel Bryan's used to.

Whatever the case may be, WWE should be featuring Banks as much as possible. She is the most over woman on the roster and has repeatedly proved herself in high-profile situations. She is the face of the future in relation to women's wrestling, and featuring her would behoove the company.

Until that happens, it would be of no great surprise to see Banks continue to fall down the rankings, unfortunately.

4. Paige

7 of 10

Last Week: 5

The Anti-Diva may have dropped a match to Nikki Bella last Thursday night on SmackDown, but her actions Monday night more than earned her the right to move up a spot in this week's rankings.

After weeks of disingenuously pledging her allegiance to Becky Lynch and Charlotte and simultaneously swearing that she had nothing to do with the backstage assault on Natalya, Paige showed her true colors by attacking her PCB mates and leaving them lying in the center of the ring.

The funny part? The fans reacted favorably to Paige, implying that they are more enamored with the Brit's character than that of the more generic Lynch and Charlotte.

Suddenly back at the top of the division, the hottest Diva on the main roster from a momentum standpoint, Paige should make strides in the coming weeks and may even find herself in the top spot.

3. Nikki Bella

8 of 10

Last Week: 2

The loss to Charlotte at Hell in a Cell bumped Nikki Bella down a spot this week, but that doesn't mean she didn't have another stellar week.

On the October 22 episode of SmackDown, she systematically beat down and defeated Paige in impressive fashion. Then on Raw, just 24 hours after losing another Divas Championship match to Charlotte, she recovered by defeating Becky Lynch to win a big Divas tag bout.

It remains to be seen if Nikki will join boyfriend John Cena during his hiatus from the company. If so, it will dramatically affect her place in these rankings.

If she does take time away from the squared circle, though, it will allow her to freshen up and come back even better than she already is.

2. Bayley

9 of 10

Last Week: 1

Bayley falls from the top spot in this week's rankings, thanks to her inactivity this past week.

The NXT women's champion has had a stellar year, working with Sasha Banks to prove that two women cannot only have a fantastic match comparable to any men's bout but can also headline a show and live up to expectations.

She is a role model for young girls everywhere, something that is missing elsewhere in WWE.

But with an impending championship showdown with Alexa Bliss on the horizon, Bayley will need to maintain the aggressiveness and nastiness she displayed during her wars with Banks. If not, she will see her title reign come to an end at the hands of the vindictive, manipulative and dangerous Bliss.

1. Charlotte

10 of 10

Last Week: 3

The Divas champion jumps to the top spot on this week's list, thanks to her incredible come-from-behind win over Nikki Bella at Sunday's Hell in a Cell pay-per-view.

Nursing a back injury, she fought through the pain, delivered a spear and utilized the Figure Eight submission hold to pick up the victory.

The second-generation competitor has been done a great disservice by WWE Creative since being called up to the main roster. She has been stripped of any character she had, instead relying solely on the notion that she is the daughter of Ric Flair to get over.

A strong win, coupled with a great performance and tremendous match, will help her out in the short term. At some point, though, she will have to develop more of an on-air persona if she is not to be passed over by the more interesting Paige, Nikki Bella and Sasha Banks.
