Tyler Breeze vs. Dolph Ziggler Is Best Feud for NXT Star's WWE Main Roster Debut

Tom ClarkOct 27, 2015

Tyler Breeze has made it onto the main roster of WWE, and many fans likely feel it could not have come at a better time. The man known as Prince Pretty was stuck in a holding pattern in NXT, and Dolph Ziggler's dance card recently opened up thanks to the end of his feud with Rusev.

So why not pit the two men against each other? The fact is it's the perfect feud for WWE's newest sensation.

The word "sensation" may be hyperbole right now, especially considering Breeze hasn't done much since showing up on SmackDown. But he did attack Ziggler, and that was a huge statement for him. Now he will have the chance to feud with The Showoff, and both men could potentially share that nickname.

Breeze is a good hand in the ring. He's fundamentally sound, has great ring psychology and is very comfortable between the ropes. He may not be the biggest guy in the locker room, but he is the most flamboyant, which has aided him thus far.

What Breeze lacks in size, he more than makes up for with moxie.

He's a throwback to stars such as Gorgeous George and Adrian Street, guys who were wrapped up in physical appearances and overall image. Breeze uses that gimmick better than anyone right now, and it's the same gimmick that got him over in NXT.

But there is a big difference between WWE and its developmental brand, of course.

Success in the farm league does not necessarily translate into success on the main stage. It will take much more than an entertaining gimmick for Breeze to get over in a big way. He needs the right opportunities, the right booking and the right opponents.

Ziggler meets all those criteria.

He is the Breeze of WWE's main roster; he's flashy, cocky and capable. He's the workhorse of the locker room; he gets it done every time he steps into the ring, and he does it with real style.

Ziggler has the reputation of being the guy who earns his keep, the one who gives fans their money's worth when he's in the ring. While many fans are still begging to see him cross over to the main event level, there is no doubt he is the king of WWE's midcard.

But that title is one Breeze could take from him.

It's the best fit for both stars—the one that makes the most sense right now. Ziggler and Breeze are similar but different enough for fans to find it interesting and stay the course with them. It's also something new, something fresh, for WWE programming. Fans have not seen this matchup before, and now they will.

Breeze needs someone who can give him the rubwho can bring him in and help him get where the company wants him to be. Ziggler is the best choice to do that as he has already been where Breeze is now. Ziggler's experience will be beneficial to Breeze, and the younger star needs to be a sponge to soak it all in.

When Ziggler is booked, fans know they're in for a good match. Anyone feuding with him will have the spotlight of those expectations as well, and now WWE finally has someone who can feud with Ziggler who can match his pace in the ring.

Breeze was a star in NXT, but Ziggler will help him become a star in WWE.

The only question is, who will win this feud? It's hard to know where the company will take it, but Ziggler should not be manhandled or be forced to take a step back. By the same token, Breeze should not be humiliated or tossed aside as if he doesn't pose a serious threat in the ring.

The most important part of this budding rivalry is that both guys get the chance to do what they need to do in order to make it work. That means they need time and plausible booking to get them on the right track.

Everything else should come easily for both of them. Breeze is definitely in good hands with Ziggler.
