Liverpool Transfer News: Latest on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Top Reds Rumours

Liverpool are reportedly targeting a move for Borussia Dortmund's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but they could face stiff competition from Paris Saint-Germain.  

According to French outlet Le10Sport (h/t Metro's Mark Brus), Liverpool are "still among the leading contenders" to sign the striker.

The Gabon international has been in stunning form this season and appears to be in the midst of an epic battle with Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski, as Squawka Football reveal:

Indeed, in just 17 games this season, the 26-year-old has racked up an incredible 20 goals and five assists in all competitions, and his total of 13 Bundesliga goals is more than 10 of the 20 Premier League teams have managed thus far—including Liverpool.

However, as Bundesliga expert Clark Whitney revealed in July, Aubameyang signed a new long-term deal with BVB:

According to German outlet Bild (h/t ESPN FC's Stephan Uersfeld), Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc said: "Here, contracts don't change. We are planning with him in the long term."

The player himself was less adamant though, telling German network ZDF (h/t Uersfeld): "I feel great here—but in football, things can change fast."

The prospect of linking up with manager Jurgen Klopp could be a temptation for the striker so a move could well be on the cards, albeit with a hefty transfer fee.

In other news, the club have secured under-21 captain Cameron Brannagan's future with the club after he penned a lengthy deal to remain with the Reds, according to the Liverpool Echo's Andy Kelly.

The midfielder has great potential, and his total of seven goals and three assists for the under-21s last season highlight his burgeoning creativity and ability to contribute going forward.
