Dublin Marathon 2015 Results: Men's and Women's Top Finishers
Ethiopia's Alemu Gemechu won the 2015 Dublin Marathon with a time of two hours, 14 minutes and one second as he topped the men's event in Ireland, while Ukraine's Nataliya Lehonkova dominated the women's race with a time of 2:30.00.
Francis Ngare finished a close runner-up in the men's event as over 15,000 competitors took part in the 36th edition of the race.
The marathon's official Twitter feed captured Gemechu's winning moment:
It did the same for Lehonkova:
Ngare took an early but narrow lead in the race, and by the 14-mile mark, things were incredibly tight between himself, Gemechu and 2014 winner Eliud Too:
As the race wore on, Ngare, Too and Freddy Sittuk comprised the leading pack, but a late surge by the Ethiopian saw him take top spot on the podium by six seconds.
In the women's event, Lehonkova was among the leaders from start to finish, and at one point, she opened up a significant lead over the field:
Lehonkova has tasted victory at the Emerald Isles before, having won the 2013 Belfast Marathon in record time.
The men's event in Dublin has been dominated by Kenya in recent years with 2013 winner Sean Hehir the only one to break their run of wins since 2010, which serves as a testament to Gemechu's achievement on Monday.
A full list of Monday's Dublin Marathon results will be available on the race's official website.
