The Vikings announced that Peterson is ready and available to play against the Chicago Bears.
Latest on Peterson's Practice Status Ahead of Week 8
Friday, Oct. 30
Ben Goessling of ESPN reported that Peterson was back at practice ahead of the team's contest against the Bears.
Peterson Has Powered Vikings' Strong Start
Peterson was listed as questionable for Week 7 with an illness that he attributed to eating shrimp, which he is allergic to, per Goessling. The six-time Pro Bowler ended up playing in that game and rushed for 98 yards on 19 carries.
Although questions swirled during the preseason regarding Peterson's ability to produce like a superstar at 30 years old, he's answered skeptical inquiries with an authoritative stroke.
In six games this season, Peterson has rushed for 530 yards and three touchdowns while operating as the linchpin of Minnesota's offense. The three-time All-Pro has also caught 13 passes for 101 yards.
His impressive start has been noted by fellow professionals, too. "Shoot, man," Detroit Lions running back Ameer Abdullah said, per the Detroit Free Press' Carlos Monarrez. "Longevity, just dynamic playmaking ability, physical, fast, agile. You name it. He's been doing it for a while. I was watching when he was in college. It seems like he's only gotten better with age."
The Vikings are off to an impressive 4-2 start behind Peterson and a solid defense. If they can beat the Bears in Week 8, then they'll have a chance to position themselves well in the NFC North and keep pace with the undefeated Green Bay Packers.
Backups Jerick McKinnon and Matt Asiata have experience handling heavier workloads after sharing primary rushing responsibilities during the 2014 season, but neither player resides in the same stratosphere as Peterson.
